I appreciate all the hard work that went into making this game. The best part about the game is the effective use of sound. Half the time I was playing, I couldn't tell if certain sounds were coming from the game or outside my own window. Take a look at my let's play of From Next Door part 1 to see what I mean. 5 stars for atmosphere!
The main reason I rate this as a 4 is because I felt there was an unnecessary amount of text or dialogue that could have been replaced with interactive elements.
WARNING POSSIBLE SPOILER AHEAD.
YOU. HAVE. BEEN. WARNED.
For instance, the thing that sticks out in my mind most, when we find the wallet we are told a bunch of descriptions and information about the wallet. It slowed down the pacing of the game. A more effective tool may be to give players an inventory so that we can interact with objects and decide for ourselves how to interpret the objects instead of being told how to. Same thing with the neighbor's nail puller. Instead of telling us that it is old and about to break, maybe show us a picture of how of shape it's in.
