  • Its unfortunate the game had to be submitted in a buggy state. The bones here look really neat, except for the fact that the wizard is stark naked, that took me off guard a little (he also looks a bit like a pikmin which i thought was funny). The game soft locks on level 2 when you load in and you can't move in either form, the potions fall through the floor, but you mention that you know that already. keep working on it as this reminds me of windows games from the 2000s ment for kids, very cute style!

In “RGBrew: Alchemy of Light”, the player steps into a fantasy realm of shadow and light, the player is an elderly alchemist who must navigate through this world using fire and shadows, as well as his mystical power of transformation (“Meow”). He must progress through puzzles, foes and the darkness to make it out alive, using alchemy and his wits.
The alchemist cannot enter the shadows lest he be consumed by the spirits that dwell there. If he gets too close to a shadow, he will flee in fear.
The player must collect alchemical elements and use them on fires to change the flame’s color. By changing the fire’s color, the surroundings are basked in the corresponding light and walls of the same color seemingly vanish, changing the level’s layout. Once inaccessible areas thus become accessible.
In some rooms the alchemist may use a cauldron to mix two primary elements (Red, Green & Blue) to produce secondary elements (Yellow, Cyan & Magenta). These secondary elements affect the walls of that color. The player must manipulate the color of the lights to reach the exit.
The Alchemist can transform himself into a cat. As a cat, he is free to walk in the shadow as the spirits are fond of cats :3 As a cat, the Alchemist can collect alchemical elements, but he cannot interact with fires, use the cauldron or open doors (no opposable thumbs).
Controls:
WASD to move
E Pick-up/drop alchemical element
SPACEBAR Throw alchemical element.
F to transform into cat / human form
ESC to show the pause menu

Thanks for the opportunity, this game was a lot of fun to make and we're proud of what we've achieved with our limited experience, we hope standards were met and above all, that the people who play it will have a good time!

I like the design of the alchemist, its pretty funny, but I wasn't able to play the game properly. After I completed the first level and moved onto the second, the character couldn't move anymore :(

Thank you for playing! Sadly when we tried to export the game some things broke, even though it was working on the editor. We only realised about those problems 3 hours before the deadline.
