- besides a a few lag spikes this game feels great. you should definetly continue developing this one :D maybe adding some sort of ultimate skill or another weapon would make the game feel more dynamic?

This was my best attempt at delivering a character action game. Inspired by games like DmC and Bayonetta.
It's a prototype and since I, like everyone else, was short on time, the amount of actual options available to the player is pretty slim. Still, the main game loop revolves around moving from one combat arena into another. Fighting a predetermined enemy group on a predetermined map configuration.
There's a focus on using combo attacks to hit invisible enemies and flip their colors, turning them visible. The other focus is on launching enemies into the air and juggling them, since multiple hits on the floor will cause them to dodge or counter your attacks. The game is a small tutorial and then a handful of increasingly hard fights. I personally had a blast clearing the last one. I hope you do too!
Extra Notes
The initial idea came from a youtube link one of the members of the team shared. It was for the Jack vs the Ninja fight scene in the season 4 of Samurai Jack. The entire scene is in black and white, no shades of grey, and both fighters use this perception of light to appear invisible to each other.
That took care of the whole "Shadows" part of the theme. But mixing it with Alchemy ended up being extremely simple. Alchemy can be seen as "transforming" or "transmuting" one thing into another. Well, why can't that thing be light and shadow? Or more precisely, our perception of light and shadow.
There's not much to add that isn't in the GDD. I hope you have fun, I had a blast making this, it was actually the first game I ever made from scratch.
I feel like I bit a bit more than I can chew, choosing such a gameplay heavy idea. But I am really glad with the outcome.
Thank you for doing these game jams! They're extremely motivating and a great learning opportunity. I eagerly wait for your feedback.
