- Game ran well, simple but easy to 'read' art. I would say the lighting effects could be better refined, as the colors got muddy after the first level. Good job making some 'hints' at direction so a player didn't feel too lost, felt intuitive enough to not be frustrating if I got turned around for a moment. Would definitely enjoy more in-depth mechanics with the enemies or torch interactions.

This is my first ever game jam. I know I'm not a natural, but I'm really proud of what i was able to do while having a full time job. I certainly learned alot

This is an interesting mechanic for a game! and the little guy is so cute :D I like the sounds as well, so good job there.
It wasn't immediately clear that I needed to press Space to advance the dialogue.
For the combat, I actually was enjoying extinguishing the shadows. But the enemies piled up SO fast. I don't know if I was missing a mechanic to finish the ritual, but I was protecting the lamp after lighting it and the enemies never slowed down. Reading the comments now I see others have progressed, so I am going to give it another go.
UPDATE:
There are multiple lamps to light! After getting triple shot I see the progression, nice work! I'd say the second level is a bit dark, but still very cool
Thank you for the feedback Ryan, if I'm honest I forgot to tell people to press space and realized only after uploading the game to itch hence why there's not prompt in game 😅
Glad you were able to get it figured out. Maybe I could have the other lamps *shimmer* every couple of seconds when not lit to show that they exist!
Seriously thank you for the feedback ☺️
Your idea of using the torch light in place of health mechanics is genius!
I like how the ritual parts feel like playing vampire survivors. I also had a lot of fun with this game's sound effects and music. Paired with the dim lighting, it makes the dark forest atmosphere feel scarier.
Omg thanks so much!
Loved the upgrades given after each level. Fun game and great job!
Thanks midi, glad you had fun!
Great work! The upgrade felt like significant choices and the rituals were balanced nicely between management and combat. Keep it up!
Thanks oluuf, means alot. I will keep it up
Had a lot of fun playing this one. It's a pretty solid start to a game only made in two weeks.
Thanks for the encouragement, glad you enjoyed it ☺️
