  • Breeding animals is not really alchemy, and even after reading your GDD, the tie to shadows is quite loose. I like your artstyle, although the stark difference in styles of the food and the various enemies is a little offputting. Really good start though, it's a really interesting idea.
  • I would say that this was clever in your approach to the way the themes were used, though, one more than the other. For alchemy, I can interpret 'transformation' and 'combination' when it comes to the playstyle. As for shadow, the enemies being 'dark entities' of some kind, doesn't really stand out unless (for me) there's some kind of story that ties into it. So, while I read your description of the game, there wasn't much from my time playing that suggested shadow was fully apparent. As for the art, animation and sound effects used--all of this was nicely put together. Honestly, the entire game brought me back to my childhood when I played a lot of "Insaniquarium". In terms of playability, I think the only 'issue' I ran into was seeing how to combine the fish in order to increase their size and survive longer so the player can fend off the enemies that spawned in (since attacking them is fairly limited). Not too sure how much I enjoyed that mechanic, but it was unique nonetheless. Overall, this was put together nicely, and I do see myself returning to it one way or another. Keep up the good work.

This game is inspired by a classic game, insaniquarium. If you've played that one, you basically have this game. The only difference is the new theme mechanics. Such as the combine mechanic, where you can take two fish of the same age and combine them together to create a new fish of the next age. You can also sacrifice fish to replenish your gems, which are used to fight off the fish shadows. For controls, you only need your mouse to play it. Left click for clicking/ grabbing, and Right click for feeding fish.

As for the story, I didn't have enough time to make it. But essentially the story is that you are helping an aspiring fishologist witch with their thesis. Over the course of the game, she learns new spells or introduces a new pet for the player to use in their next tank level. As for the witch's thesis, you slowly find out how important it is, since there seems to be an evil shadow gang that is trying to steal her work.

Extra Notes
Here is a link to the gdd in case the one on the game page isn't working.

Very relaxing game! I felt like killing the fish was a bit too difficult, like I couldn't stop them from doing damage. Collection coins and buying more fish felt really addictive tho!
Nice job :)
