  • The GDD is solid, and clearly communicates your intent with the game and how you've interpreted the theme. Well done. Gameplay is solid and very polished, feels very clean and professional. The art work is AMAZING. Love the style. At first it was unclear how to actually play. I was clicking on random drinks but did not realise I was supposed to click once on an item from each row. Once I figured that out, the rest of the game was straightforward and easy to grasp. I especially like the "Next Customer" button. Having a customer become impatient is one thing, but being able to rest and go AFK (... or write these comments!) inbetween customers is refreshing. The "Next Customer" button is one of those tiny Quality of Life things that makes the difference between this being a good stream game, or just a solo play game. Also ... THAT MUSIC. This entire game rocks.

Did you include your Game Design Document as a Google Drive link?
Yes

Seriously... did you include your Game Design Document?
Yes. There's a downloadable file and a link to the Google Doc on the game's page

Is your game set to Public so we can see it?
Yes

Tell us about your game!
It's a bartending simulation game where you play as someone who made a deal with a demon to gain expert mixology skills. To pay off the debt you go to work in his Jazz bar in hell.
Customers will come into the bar and give you descriptive requests for what they're after, and you need to pick ingredients based on those requests. The closer you match the ingredients to their requests, the more you'll make in tips.
The game is mostly controls with the mouse, with a couple of keyboard controls (escape to pause, space bar for the cocktail mixing).

Extra Notes
We had a great time making this :D

Great game! I liked a one *hell* of a lot figuring out the drinks, nice puzzle :D I left another comment on game itch page. Music, sounds, art, all very nice.

Simple but effective. I really liked the wording puzzle of figuring out each drink! Reminded me of VA-11 Hall-A. Also nice reference to Red Strings Club in the aesthetics. Good job overall, although at some point it just got too hard to time the minigame. Would have love some more narrative.

Developer

Thank you! I've not heard of Red Strings Club, so I'll look it up.

I'd have loved to add a bunch more story but I didn't wanna overscope for the jam, so just kept it simple.

You're also not the first person to say the minigame is too hard hahaha. I guess I got very good at it while testing and didn't realise the difficulty was too high :')

I really like the art style and the vibe! I like mixing games in general and I think this one has a really fun concept! Great work ^^

Okay ! I played the game now. :D Man, that customer who looks like you is so disturbing... Nice artchoice there. Also you are right, our games seem similar but are quite different. I like the vibe in your game as well and that you included Endless Mode.

:D Loved the athmosphere in your game and I would really love to compose sth for you. Maybe you listened to the songs in our game - if you liked them feel free to ask me if you ever need music.

Also it was fun to figure out which ingredient is connected to each custumors demand. I had a bit difficulties not to spill the dring though... My reaction time isnt the best it seems... XD

And last but not least: Impressive you did that by yourself!!!

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much!! I think I should have made it a little easier overall :')

And yeah I really liked the music in your game! I'll definitely hit you up if I need some music for a game :)

I did have a team mate that did the art so I can't take any credit for that, but I did do the game design and programming and stuff all myself and so I'm pretty proud of what I accomplished!

Cool game, I enjoyed trying to figure out which ingredient was linked to each clue, though my main suggestion would to have the shelf arranged Spirits, Body and Extra from top to bottom, since that seems to be the order of the clues and would feel more natural to me. That's just subjective though, its still a really cool vibe and probably my favourite interpretation of the themes so far!

Developer

Thanks for playing :D and for complementing the interpretation of the theme!

Yeah I agree with that, I think if I were to do it again I'd switch them around.

Great idea, artwork is on point and consistent. Once you know the trick to the mixing it can get a bit repetitive, but at that point it's kind of like "how fast can I do it?" The idea of which ones to select is pretty funny and well executed in general. I wish you could click to mix instead of spacebar.

Yeah I think if I were to make this into a full game, the bartending would be something you do in between a different kind of gameplay (visual novel maybe?) so it didn't get too samey. But that definitely was out of scope for the jam haha. Thanks for the feedback :)
