  • I think some more clear indication on what the end food/drink/what ever would be nice to have. some sort of journal that keeps track for you.

Did you include your Game Design Document as a Google Drive link?
Yes! I published it to web and linked it as "external" as requested.

Seriously... did you include your Game Design Document?
Yes! I've followed instructions as clarified in the discord.

Is your game set to Public so we can see it?
Yes, it's now public.

Tell us about your game!
There are six possible endings!

The only controls available are left-clicking with the mouse. Interactable elements highlight and/or change color when hovered over. "X" buttons in the top left corner of menus are used to close them.

The core story Reagents and Recompense aims to tell (though only slightly in this very tiny slice) is of a shady character posing as a missing apothecary, aiming to exploit the members of a dying town. While you take advantage of the desperate and ill to earn food, money, or other favors, the end goal is still to do a good job using acquired knowledge in order to truly deceive them. As long as you don't get them killed, it's a win-win, right?

Extra Notes
While much of the "shadowy" narrative I had planned had to hit the cutting room floor for the sake of time, I do hope that my mixed interpretation of the jam theme comes through. I'd also started on a key mechanic of investigating the environment to acquire lost/torn sheets from the journal to add extra warnings and notes about specific ingredients, but left it out due to the time-consuming nature of drawing and spriting many, many small details (as well as unimportant ones!). This is something I'll be working on in the coming weeks in order to see my initial vision to the end.

It's been a blast working alongside such an enthusiastic community, and I intend to use this entry as a way to endear myself to a team project for the next jam. Winner or otherwise, this has been my most successful jam to date, across Itch, Ludum Dare, and the Global Game Jam, and I look forward to polishing it- potentially to the point of publication- following the judging period.

Thank you to Thor and the judges for this opportunity, and for your dedication to the community. And to the community, thank YOU for being such an inspiration.
