  • Good GDD, I would like to see more detailed information around the key ideas in the game. The ideas and foundations link nicely to the game jam, but it would be good to get more of an explanation on the themes and then more of those details shown in game. I really enjoyed my little play through, even though it took me too many tries to get through some of the levels πŸ™ƒ The base ideas are very clever and innovative, good job! Feedback: Implement a training section to the functionality behind the game on an easy to complete straight forward level, before then expanding to the first levels. Add some more detail to help reinforce the shadowy nature, and give the magician some effects that show the magical effects of transforming things.

Great concept for a game and also one of the most complete games I've seen during this jam. I genuinely do not have any feedback because all the mechanics are interesting and they work as intended. I really enjoyed going through the puzzles and I hope to see more if you continue working on it :>

Developer

thank you !!

it'd be fun to work on it more πŸ‘€

So far the best I've played. Very creative puzzle ideas!

Developer

thank you so much ! :D

Short, sweet, effective!

Making a puzzle game is hard. Making a puzzle game for a jam is even harder. Yet, you guys have pulled it off - massive kudos! The game doesn't trip over its systems, puzzles are logical and engaging (although I will grant that they are simple - but it's a good thing for a jam entry!), the art style is striking (yes, I know, Kenney assets, but you still gotta set up lighting and select the right stuff!) - you can definitely grow this concept into something bigger and put it out on a store.

Now, for critique... The movement felt a fair bit "stiff", I think I once noticed a lack of coyotee time (if it's present - it's a bit harsh for a game that's not about mastering jumping between platforms), and the spinning carousel of abilities/effects was a touch distracting. Liked the left side panel with them though, that was really well done!

Congrats on your jam entry :)

Developer

thank you so much !

and that's fair critique πŸ™ im excited to work on QOL changes some time after the jam and coyote time is definitely one of those πŸ€”

Very great mechanic. I completed the game. Feels like an IQ test about Spatial haha. nice GAME!

Developer

thank you !! :D

Very fun mechanic with the photos! The art style felt very nice for how simple the geometry is. The effects with the photo icon were a nice polish to the experience too. The level progression felt spot on as well. I wish there was more!

Developer

thanks !! πŸ•Ί

we'll see what we can do o_o

Such a well designed and executed game. Nice job! I really like the way that the game slowly present each new mechanic to the player. It such a good polishing touch that make the whole play through much smoother and pleasant.

I can't think of anything on top of my head that urgently needs improvement. I guess the only complaint I had was the game ending too soon, and would hope it to be longer. The game do have potential to be developed into a full game though.

Anyway, Well done!

Developer

thank you so much ! πŸ’– that's very kind of you πŸ™

love it. It's such a simple, but well-executed and fun idea. The atmosphere and music are really nice. I did find the isometric perspective made it difficult to gauge distances when jumping between platforms. And I fell through the level a couple of times and had to restart. Consider adding a killzone that just restarts the level if you hit it. Great work!

Developer(+1)

thank you ! :D sorry to hear about the falling through tho :O mustve missed some walls

This was a very fun and engaging game! The photograph effects are very clever and smooth. But how does this game implement  the theme?

Developer

thanks ! :)

we took alchemy's definition  as 'the transformation of matter' in a broader sense

you use the photos to transform objects in the game

The camera angle is annoying for the jumping parts. I like the mechanics, with better character movement this could make a good game. I like the art style as well.

Developer

got it :D thanks ! :)

Felt very responsive to my in-game actions. Selecting cards, recalling cards, seeing the little character spin when you use a card, sound effects, it was a pleasant experience and I understood every action my keypresses did in the game.

Very snappy gameplay, applying snapshots to objects is done virtually instant. Very nice feeling seeing the animations play out when you apply cards to them.

Tutorial is easy to understand, and does a splendid job of teaching me how to play.

You accounted for the player potentially being able to crushing themselves into the ground with one of the rotating objects. Very nice collision checking. Thought I could maybe glitch myself under the map :)

Little difficult to get used to controlling multiple cards (ex: deselecting at the correct time on the rotating hole sections can be tiny a bit tricky with how quickly they rotate), but it's not too bad.

Good work!

such a detailed review ! thank you so much πŸ˜„

we had a lot of fun making this game

I loved this game's concept, and the puzzles were short but challenging. I love how multiple photos could interact with each other. The music was on point. I would suggest adding coyote time just to make the platforming a little bit smoother. I enjoyed playing this game, great work :)

Developer

thank you so much ! πŸ’–

Love the concept and it's really well applied for the most part! I did get stuck on the level about the "charged object" though. And agree with what others have said about the perspective - top-down may be the best bet?

Developer

thank you ! :D

and oh no :O stuck as in the game was unplayable? if you have more info please let me know πŸ™

I just couldn't figure out what I was meant to be doing haha - I used the enlarge photo on the white stick to make it touch the top thing, but wasn't sure what to do from there?

Developer

ah ! i see :O there's another object in the room that you can use photos on as a hint πŸ€”

Submitted(+1)

thanks! I did see the large box on the left as well and I did make that bigger, but it didn’t seem to get my any further? Maybe I’ll try again :)

Developer

but you have 2 powers at that point πŸ‘€

Really fun game, I like the concept and it kept me engaged.

A great concept! This feels like the tutorial before the actual game with harder puzzle maps that I'd love to play. The black and white, textureless, cube-like style made me feel like playing a prototype at the beginning, but now I think it could also totally stay this way. I read comments about the camera/perspective, but I'd say I like it how it is; you could even think about using it as a mechanic and add optical illusions with this isometric style. Enjoyed it :)

Developer

glad you enjoyed it !

i do also really like the camera/perspective but maybe there's a better way to do it πŸ€”

Nice idea!
I don't much enjoy ortoghaphic style movement and it was a bit hard to get used to it but overall I think it's a really nice game :) The tutorial is really good and it feels like I'm progressing in proper pace.

Developer

thank you :D yeah we got a couple of comments about the camera we'll see what we can do about itπŸ€”

Submitted(+1)

I like the idea! but the perspective misleads me a lot during the gameplay. Sometimes I know how to solve the puzzle but fail at the actions.

Developer(+1)

thanks ! :) we'll look into what we can do for the camera and movement

I think this deserves to win something. Really cool concept, smart little puzzles and a simple and clean aesthetic. Only issue is that the platforming feels a little off with the isometric view but wasn't game breaking. Well done team, I expect to see this on the stream!

Developer(+1)

thank you so much ! πŸ’–

Developer(+1)

you're too kind :" )

Cool art and really clever theme interpretation.

Unfortunately I found some bugs like:

- When pressing Q to recall all photos the charge photo doesn't recall if you use all three photos on an object

- Movement sometimes bugs while jumping on stairs

Developer

thanks ! :D

i havent encountered the Q bug D: the movement one i have and maybe it's something with physicsmaterials πŸ€”

thanks for the info !

The art and minimalistc design is awesome! Concept is truly inuque! Very cool!

Developer

thank you so much !!

I really liked the concept, it was fun to test the interaction of the different cards with the environment, good job!

Developer

thanks !! im glad you had fun πŸ™
