  • I got stuck in pits quite often. When I was, I knew you could dash out, but didn't know how to work the dash mechanic correctly. It wasn't explained that dashing would send you anywhere you wanted to go by holding it down (in the game). Mechanics like that should be somewhat self-evident, if not explained somehow. Otherwise, decent concept. Keep at it!
  • It's pretty basic but you should be proud of doing this in a short amount of time by yourself. The darkness feels a bit harsh, a menu would be nice (although the music is nice, it's quite loud as are the SFX). The controls worked. The biggest issue is the missing/not working link to the GDD.
  • I like the play with the shadow mechanic. the gameplay is a bit basic. the dash does not feel smooth. sound effects are LOUD. wished there was some way to adjust the volume on sfx vs music.

Did you include your Game Design Document as a Google Drive link?

Is your game set to Public so we can see it?
I did

Tell us about your game!
I also gave the guide whilst inside the game, A and D for left and right, Space to jump, Shift to dash, F to increase light, You are a wizard on a trip into the caves of Cinosir to aquire a gem for your cat, torches and campfires count as checkpoints, teleporting you back to that spot

Extra Notes
Its the first game jam i joined, and the game is really barebones unfortunately, and i did alot of work, but my team didnt do any, so it has decent code, but less than optimal art/music

ALSO THE DOCUMENT SAYS DOWNLOAD IT JUST SENDS TO A WEBPAGE

Love the cat >< The music is great, the dash into wall is a bit too loud, maybe change it to a thud sound that's not echoy as well? Tbh i couldn't figure out how to leave the first area, it said to charge light with F (it didn't do anything for me) and to go to the door, but i wasn't sure how to actually open or go through the door? I might have missed something because the other comments are mentioning others areas.

My apologies, it appears I forgot the interact button above the door for clearing up such situations, and on the next update, I'll see if I can change the dash sound (of course) Thank you very much for playing my game!

I'd do anything for a cute kitty <3 Fun music and I like the fast movement. I like how maze-like the caves were, and the light mechanics were well-done. Very cute and fun entry.

Okay so just gonna start off by saying obviously the game isn't the prettiest to look at but thankfully the gameplay is fun and once you get used to it isn't as difficult to control as you first think.

The dash SFX literally hurts my ears though I had to turn down my system volume. But on the other side the music IS AMAZING. Damn 10/10 banger knocked it outta the park with that one.

I figured out I could just hold F and extend my light beyond the reaches of the game screen so whenever I wasn't jumping or dashing I was charging it up. I wish it charged faster and reduced slower cos it feels like you NEED to keep it charged constantly as running around in the dark is a nightmare.

The dashing feels weird at first but once you get used to it it's honestly fine. After I died a few times I was able to get around fairly quickly and the map isn't too huge that it becomes a chore to move around. I did fall into a pit at the bottom on my first life though and genuinely thought I had softlocked until I realised you can dash in any direction.

I wish the other torches had some sort of purpose? They just seem to light up the nearby area around them and even then not very much.

Managed to get to the boss but couldn't beat it despite pelting it hundreds of times. Tried hitting the lantern but nothing happened. Maybe a skill issue maybe the boss doesn't work? I dunno.

Also Cat +10 points.
