  • Nice game! The UI feels a tad too slow and the placement being permanent with no good preview is kind of a detriment, but this holds a lot of potential for improvement. Keep expanding on this!

Rock & Root is a relaxing city-builder strategy game where you build villages, explore unknown lands and do tiny quests.

Game controls are very simple - you only need your mouse. Getting a high score however, requires a bit of planning and luck.

There's a "How to play?" button in game for basic info, but mainly:
Camera movement - right click and move or WASD, scroll for zoom
Place a building - press and HOLD the left mouse button

Other important things to know:
Question: Can you use a single resource twice? (eg. put 2 houses next to a single tree)
Answer: No. All resources that are found within a blue circle are "CLAIMED". If you place another building that should claim those, it will not. A tiny animation will show you which resources were claimed by the building.

Question: How to finish a village wood/stone quest?
Answer: Place a woodcutter/stonecutter in UNCLAIMED area with UNCLAIMED trees/stones next to a village you're working with. The newly placed woodcutter/stonecutter must touch a village to progress its quest.

Question: What happens if I put a building between 2 villages that have separate quests, making them into 1 large village?
Answer: This is called village merging. Both quests are considered failed and a new one is spawned for the merged village.
