The movement and wall jumping is very satisfying. It feels like Super Meatboy and Pizzatower. I'm tempted to just have butter mode on all of the time. This game helps me realize there is never enough butter.
Congrats on your first game!
Butter and waffles, what's not to like! Being able to modify the level to get around is a really cool mechanic that you should keep building around I think. You could add more ingredients and build different things by combining them - just an idea :D
Thanks! I initially planned to have different types of spreadables that would alter the level differently but it ended up being too much for the time limit
This is so cute!! The music fits well with the art style and theme.
Spreading and butter, plus the butter mechanics is a very fun take on the theme. I was impressed by how nice the character movement felt on buttered floors and walls (didn't expect to ever type that sentence! lol).
I'd consider the level design for future polish. At the moment, I'm just aimlessly searching for bread--finding some way to motivate the player to go places and utilize the mechanics to get there would be great. You could improve that in a bunch of different ways with the art style, level design, story, or any combination of elements.
Great job on your first game--I had a nice time playing it!
Thanks so much! Yeah the level design was where I struggled the most, it was hard to come up with layouts that felt interesting and made sense with the mechanics. Definitely want to expand on this later. Thanks for the feedback!
