  • I couldn't really see the theme in the game but I can see there's potential for a good game! The movement and feedback felt good, which is not always a given. Nicholas is really cool and if you add some levels, make them higher, maybe add abilites and stuff, this could be a pretty neat project resulting in a fun game! I'd like to see that. Well done making this game, thanks for submitting it and keep making games!

Did you include your Game Design Document in your downloadable files?
Yes

Tell us about your game!
Most information can be found in the instructions screen off the main menu(the question mark in the bottom right) however it's a lot of text so here's a TL;dr:

The game is a platforming roguelite, where you discover new areas and problems to solve as you climb higher and higher. The goal of the game is to climb as high as you can.
The story is about a rat, travelling through a mysterious mishmash of worlds simply trying to survive against the inevitable.
Controls are A/D for left right, Q/E for changing abilities, W/space for jump, and then arrow keys for using abilities in a direction. Lastly escape will pause the game.

Did you remember to include your Game Design Document?
Yes

Is your game set to Public so we can see it?
Yes

Extra Notes
I really appreciate y'all putting this together, and taking the time to go through all these submissions. I saw how many entries there are so I know how massive an effort this must be for y'all. Putting this all together, taking the time to go through all of these submissions in earnest means a lot.

I haven't touched anything related to game design in a very very long time now, health and work have gotten in the way. But this has shown me that it may still be possible. So while I don't expect to get much notice, any and all feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Movement controls are great, varied level tiles have fun surprises, and look how cute Nicholas the rat is he's just a little guy

Thanks! It was my first time making any pixel art so I was happy with the rat(and the shopkeeper!). I've got some ideas for more tiles I want to make too, but I'm waiting until the judging is done before I continue work.
