This is a really fun one. I love the concept and the artwork. The map usage feels a little strange sometimes but i was able to get over it. Thank you!

Very fun and adictive game, it was satisfying to watch fire spreading or cut trees fall. Nice selection system. It was a bit laggy sometimes but very enjoyable.

This is a great mechanical interpretation of the theme.

The polish is excellent, the game feel is nice, and the jam build feels like a cohesive whole. There are some performance issues in the browser version, but I assume that's not the intended platform and was included just to get more eyes on the game.

My gut feeling during play was that the balance was a bit unwieldy, but it sounds like other commenters were able to find working strategies (clever folks!), so it's safe to assume I just approached it wrong.

Including a fully playable tutorial in the jam build is also hugely appreciated and impressive. Good on ya!

And from a solo dev?? Get outta here

Very nice! I appreciate the random permutations of dude/beard/hair on the crew. It took me a few plays to figure out my preferred strategy (cut out the amount of forest you need to save instead of trying to optimize the amount saved). The only thing I feel is missing is a way to unmark trees, so you can try to avoid your guys catching on fire. Very polished, well done!

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much !

It is actually possible to unmark a tree by clicking on it again (I forgot to add that in the tutorial, that's my bad ^^')

Loved watching this one develop and where you've arrived at now. Excellent representation of the theme, and quite tricky to beat levels above easymode!

Really enjoyed the blocky sprites, the fire dissolve, and all the particles.

The minimap bug I'm 99% sure is due to fullscreen mode in the browser. Source: it works when not in fullscreen. I'm guessing it just doesn't know how to translate those coordinates when it's expecting a tiny window and you give it a massive one!

Awesome job. Great tutorial too, lots of people never made it that far with their submissions!

Developer(+1)

Thanks  ! glad you enjoyed it :)

I'm already aware of the minimap issue. Working on a fix for after the jam ;)

Thanks for the feedbacks & all the kind words ! <3

The game functioned well and presented the theme in a great way. The anxiety produced by the fire spreading made for an exciting experience.

Super fun game, took me too long to realise you could hire people but once I did it became a lot more fun and chaotic. great job, keep up the amazing work!

Great game :)

Very cool! At first I felt worried cutting down so many trees in a forest I was trying to save, but saw how much it was helping and was relieved!

Fun game! :D

Perfect interpretation of the Theme! Love it. ❤

The art was super charming it was simply a fun time.

Web build performance took a little hit sometimes. Clicking on the minimap to move the camera did not work for me for some reason.

Developer

Thanks ! Glad you liked it :)

Could you tell me what browser you used for the minimap issue ? and also your screen size/resolution if possible :)

Sure thing! Windows/Chrome 1440p

thank you very much :

Those are cool visuals. The spreading mechanic and visuals are a great theme interpretation.

amazing art and implementation of the theme! but I didn't quite figure out how to handle the fire properly with or without the tutorial. Still a fun experience and really chaotic haha

Submitted(+1)

The game is pretty fun ! It's very difficult even on the easiest difficulty :P but the concept is cool and it's very chaotic, which I like. Good job!

I found the game fun, but incredibly difficult, even on medium. The fire had spread to like 5 trees by the time I even walk to it. I tried another approach of cutting lumber close to the start to hire lumberjacks, but that didn't do anything really and the forest took more than half the map by the time I was able to contain even one.

I jotted down some notes while playing:

  • Nice particle fire effect
  • Didn't understand the lumberjacks catching on fire
  • Clicking on the minimap caused the camera to go off the screen
  • The purple circle doesn't touch the tree, but it catches on fire, very confusing
  • Didn't know I could see the tree fire radius until fourth attempt at a level
  • Zooming out would be help to micro control the units to tackle specific trees
Developer

Hey ! thank you very much for all the feedbacks !

For the lumberjacks catching on fire. they catch on fire when the tree they are currently working on catch on fire. but 100% agree it's not clear or even explained anywhere. I need to rework that ^^

Can I ask you what version you used (windows/web) for the minimap bug ?  and your screen size/resolution ?
This minimap took me so long to implement & debug... I need to know why it's not working for some ^^

The purple/grey circle is actually just visual effect to represent burning grass. but you're not the only one that got confused by it.

The tree fire radius is actually part of the tutorial. might need to rework that step if you missed it :/

Zooming out would indeed be really cool. might add that after the jam.

Thanks again for the feedbacks ! :)
