  • Really enjoyed this one. Fun music, creative, cool progression system, and the theme is front and center! Was a clever spin on the whole zombie apocalypse trope--spreading a cure! Great job!
  • Fantastic spin on the Vamp Surv genre that utilises the theme in multiple ways to create an entirely new gameplay style, in essence, then creating a new sub-genre. Would love more upgrade variety, and more pickups on the map to encourage exploration. UI is clean, art is beautiful, fully-featured and functional.

Did you include your Game Design Document in your downloadable files?
Yes

Tell us about your game!
After the recent but quick spread of a mysterious virus the world has pretty much collapsed. Luckily Dr. J. Ferret was able to develop a miraculous cure but only in a very limited amount of doses.

This cure, much like the zombie virus, has a viral property making it possible to spread it throughout the zombie hordes even with a short supply. Do you have what it takes to... Reclaim the Living?

Controls: WASD(Move), Space (Apply Cure), Mouse (Choose Upgrades)

Did you remember to include your Game Design Document?
Yes

Is your game set to Public so we can see it?
Yes

Extra Notes
If you have any issue with browser version please try out the Downloadable version (Just unzip the contents and run the exe).

Thanks to Thor, the Mods and all the goblins for pushing us to try our first game jam. It's was an incredible experience and we learned tons.

Thank you so much for hosting and have fun playing all these amazing entries that the community has put together!

Thanks to everyone that played our game! That was the biggest gift of all! <3

One of the best. Art is very cohesive and pleasing to look at. Game loop is well thought-out. Upgrades fit the tweaks made to the horde survival genre. Choosing the enemy upgrades is pretty cool.

One thing I don't like is training/kiting gets boring when the zombies only follow you. You only evade new spawns. If some of the zombies straggled/"got bored" that could be one  way to interrupt your train circle and make the core loop more interesting for the player as they go in circles for 15 minutes. I do like that you sometimes need to go find syringes and health around the map. Map is just the right size. I just think it needs something to spice up the optimal strategy and make it harder.

Edit: I love the raygun

Beautiful art style, simple yet clever mechanic.

I got  kind of obssesed and found myself trying to optimize builds around spreading everything with just one vaccine for like 2 hours.

I do wish you could move a little faster at the start, but thats a minor complaint. Really great submission!

Really polished game amazing for a first time jam. Loved the gameplay loop, would buy this as an actual game. Also I think there is a shoun of the dead and last of us fireflies reference lol. Loved this game art style and the power ups are really polished and I loved the idea of the cure spreading between zombies.

Developer(+1)

<3 That means a lot to us, thank you! <3
There's a few more references in there if you can spot them! 👀

This is such a fun game! It took me a little to get my bearings and get into it, but it was cool! Reminds me of those Cartoon Network Browser games from the mid-2000s.

Also, was one of the NPCs a Sean of the Dead reference? The blonde guy in the white button-up?

Thanks so much for giving it a go, glad you had a good time!  ❤️ We had bit of a hard time clearly showing the main spreading mechanic at the start of the game but it's great to see players figuring it out by experimenting.

That is indeed a reference! There's is actually a few more references sprinkled throughout the game. 👀

This game is really fun! I like how the rogue like elements are implemented. It is satisfying to watch the cure spread throughout the large group of zombies.

Another vampire survivor but the twist to the theme is nice and the game is well implemented

Such a lovely game, I adore the twist on the zombies concept, and all of the little pop culture references throughout! A really well polished game, you should be proud!

❤️❤️❤️ Had a wonderful time playing your entry as well! Proud to have Jammed together!

Fun game!  I know the pace is deliberate, but there were times where i wish everything was a tad bit faster.  Overall an awesome game though!

In the effort of making the game balanced and exciting we may have gone a little too hard on the Doc's poor little legs. 🙈 Although he doesn't go out much so maybe that's why. We'll get him a treadmill soon.

Glad you had a fun time regardless. ❤️

Lovely art style and a fun game play loop! I felt the harsh deficit of syringes but it helped with the tense atmosphere.
Awesome work!

Love the graphics and the idea!
Theme implemented perfectly.
Making progress by actually curing enemies instead of killing them is a great twist.
Upgrades make lots of sense.
A very well thought out game.

The graphics <3

Thank you so much for giving it a go! ❤️ Glad you had fun.

We love getting the younglings in the fam to try out our games so tried to solve the apocalypse with little to no violence! Let's just ignore the fact the zombies are still trying to eat you. 🙈

Really nice game, but though as hell. Liked the graphics. Well balanced gameplay. Kudos!

Awesome game, very polished! You managed to take a fairly overused theme (zombies, infection) and still made something unique and fun. Love the graphics, especially the UI! Very well done!

Submitted(+1)

Great game! If I'm honest, I thought this would be another Vampire Survivors clone when I first opened it. However, I really liked the twist you gave to it, by giving the enemies perks as well. The sprites are very polished and work well with what you're trying to do, giving me Cult of the Lamb vibes. I think the gameplay might need a bit more balance, as I didn't notice much some of the perks that were given to me (or the zombies); it would be interesting to add more enemies, as it was fairly easy to escape from the zombies. Good job both of you <3

Wonderful game, the polish feels super good.

Everything seems really well balanced and it all fits together, the mechanics, the graphics, the sound and music. It’s one coherent package.

I really liked the inclusion of the consequence cards rather than just having positive choices, it’s very interesting! Being able to unlock additional rescue zones was a great inclusion as well.

Had a great time with the game, well done!

Thank you! ❤ We're so glad to hear you had a great time playing, means a lot to us!

Loved playing your entry also. Painting the map in all sorts of colors was very addictive. Personally I liked the drones the best!

Really nicely made and well rounded game with an addictive rouge-like loop. Some effort has obviously been put into the game design of this game, well done.

Thank you kindly, I think your art eclipses mone by a mile however hahaha. Well done again

holy heck, super well done. lost an hour to it. I love the heck out of a rogue like and this one was delivered so well esp given the amount of time given. super fun take on the theme, really really satisfying. this wouldnt need much more to become a full game. great job.

Thank you so much for the kind message. So happy to know you had fun! ❤️

Your game blew my mind, the blob physics were just so juicy. I am dying to watch Kitboga play it.

Very neat game, I ended up playing it a lot longer than I would have figured. Game is super satisfying to get a huge chain reaction going

Submitted(+1)

Absolutely love the twist on the zombie genre, really fun and well executed, and gorgeous to look at to boot! The mechanics were super simple but satisfying, so it was easy to jump in and immediately feel the beating, un-undead heart of the game. There was a lot of replayability even with only one level! Superb work, and have a wonderful jam 💚

Developer

Thank you for your kind words! ❤❤

Loved trying out your entry too. I can tell your team had loads of fun building it, it clearly comes through what you put together. ❤

Very fun! I really liked the mechanic and satisfying spreading sound! I couldn't figure out how to enable the cards that I picked up or if they were enabled once I selected them. I didn't notice any speed increase on my character as they stayed moving pretty slow even though I selected like 5 cario cards. Very cool mechanics and super polished overall, the art was very very good!
