  • Interesting concept and fun board game, but I am struggling to think of ways you could expand it to a full game.

Did you include your Game Design Document in your downloadable files?
Yes

Tell us about your game!
"Spreads" is a strategic board game blending chess-like tactics with unique mechanics. Players move a single figure, leaving a trail of stones to block opponents, aiming to outmaneuver and trap them. The game escalates as players confront four increasingly intelligent adversaries, each victory causing the enemies to combine their intellects, heightening the challenge.

Fantastic game.
Simple, yet complex, and still addictive.

I loved it.

thank you!)

loved it. Stylish too.

Rules were pleasantly simple to pickup on.

outwitted the AI with my giga-galaxy brain.

Maybe with a bit more sfx and cinematic stuff, I could see this being delightfully dramatic.

Good main mechanic. I also liked the overall feeling of the game. For me all 4 levels were exactly the same, is that on purpose? I also felt like the music is very low quality or fidelity, my ears hurt a bit from the low bitrate distortion (or maybe it was an effect idk). I think this prototype is pretty good and it has a lot of potential to grow (different chess pieces, or different boards, special squares etc), and it would be fun to play against other players too :)

Developer

thanks for sharing) yes and yes. there is 4 levels of hardness but it’s a bit slightly different. music made bad on purpose.

This game has impeccable style! The board game itself is pretty fun as well, I want to play against my friends

Good mood and atmosphere, fun gameplay. Felt tense! Looking forward to more variations on the piece's movement/ size of the board etc. Could be a very fun strategy game!

Stylistically fantastic. The gameplay is also intuitive, and simple, yet requires some good strategic thinking.

Wonderful work!

Interesting game, I like the style.  And I like how the faces in the background track your cursor.

Great aesthetics! Super creepy, loved the way the faces moved toward you.

  • The UI needs some contrast
  • Need some creepy sounds for moving your piece or when you win/lose. Maybe creepy laugh, bone chattering

Overall love it

interesting game. The vibes are great for sure. I'm probably doing something wrong, but can't seem to move forward to new AI? I've trapped the opponent multiple times now and it just restarts.

Developer

for sure, sometimes game feels frustrating. can’t wait to fix it, thanks a lot for playtest!
