Description
An electronic soundtrack with some (digital) rock elements and strings, produced in FL Studio.

The first track was "Ice Bridge" taking inspiration from the theme image, and it started with me fiddling around with bell/ice kind of sounds. I wanted to limit my scope so I decided to use only FLEX sounds for the project, though I later discovered I had no drums in FLEX so the drums are from reFX Nexus 4.

The second track was "Shadow Land" which was a dark version of "Ice Bridge" starting with an electric guitar motif based on the core motif of the previous track. I found that the FLEX guitars worked well with Waves GTR Tool Rack which I haven't had a chance to play with previously. Usually I use electric guitar samples to questionable effect, but this combination of clean electric guitar signal plus an amp/cabinet sim worked pretty well. It's also slightly inspired by Doom's E1M1 because that was the first thing I started playing with it.

Third came the boss track "Against the Darkness" when on my second day I decided I could go one of two ways from the level tracks - faster and more intense, or slower and more calm. This was the more intense angle and ended up more electronic than I had anticipated. I think of the four, this one fits least (probably because it's in a different key), but maybe that would work in the context of a game because it's the final battle.

The final track was the title music "The Journey Begins" which was the other option - slower and more calm from the basic motif. I thought it might evolve into an overworld sort of track but I managed to stop before it became too involved.

Theme:

Two Worlds
Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
The level track "Ice Bridge" is inspired by the ice bridge image, and the idea of the dark world for "Shadow Land" comes from the idea of Two Worlds and how the image changes.

love the leitmotif! Shadow Land was my favorite use of it, and this is definitely a five star match to the theme!

Very nice job here! Ice Bridge was ethereal sounding, and Shadow Land rocked. Thank you for your work here!

Honestly Shadow Land and Against the Darkness are too dang catchy. Reminds me quite a bit of A Hat in Time's OST, which is definitely a compliment.

I want to play this game.

I really like the muted & delayed drums in The Journey Begins. I wish the string synth was a little softer; it sounded a little abrasive on top of them. But overall the piece sets the mood well.

Ice Bridge's brittle-sounding synths and reverb are perfectly suited for an ice level.

Shadow Land really changes it up without feeling out of place. Love the Doom influence. Taking the Ice Bridge melody and adapting it to a thrash riff works brilliantly.

Against the Darkness is much more upbeat/positive sounding than I expected for a final boss, but I like that. It would make the player feel like a hero.

I assume the tracks cut off abruptly because they are designed to loop, although I didn't download them to test this.

Great work!

Shadow land is so cool, the drums and guitar make it feel so heavy but the melody sort of gives it this empowering feeling. Great tracks overall!

I really like the use of leitmotifs to connect Ice Bridge and Shadow Land together. Of the two, I think Shadow Land is my favourite. The distorted guitars sound really cool.

My one complaint would be that most of the tracks end abruptly. I think a short fade out would have made the endings a little less distracting. Other than that, great work!

Some of the tracks end abruptly which can be a bit jarring at times but overall I really like this! Shadow Land is a bop
