Description
I imagine the game to be 8-bitty, although still rich in artwork and character development. Each track represents a different stage of the game - and opening through which the story is exposited, a middle of combat and challenge and an ending of celebration. I used Cubase 11 Pro to make the tracks with a mixture of Midi instruments and making my own synths with the Retrologue synth-builder.
Would highly recommend listening to Victory Lap, think it's definitely the strongest of the three.
Message from the artist
This is my first composing jam (having made music for friends' game jams in the past) and I had a blast taking part - I hope you like the tunes!
Theme
How does it fit the theme?
I interpreted the picture to be a trainer or owner saying goodbye to their dragon, and it all fell into place from there.

Victory Lap: really cool progression! Very catchy!
Ready? Flight!: This one really feels like a battle theme from Everhood!
Fond Farewell: Very pretty and emotional outro.
Great work!
Nice work! my favorite was Fond Farewell.
Really fun listen! I especially liked Victory Lap
Thanks very much, appreciate it!
Victory Lap and Ready? Flight! were SO GOOD. This is my favorite kind of entry. One that is unique and irresistibly catchy!
Excellent job!
Really kind of you - thanks so much!
I really like your interpretation and also the lightheartedness that comes in part from choosing an 8 bit sound for your tunes.
The first two got a bit repetitive for me; I think their length could have been halved or a bit more variety added in them going on. The stand out to me was Victory Lap. It reminded me a lot of a Kirby game and made me smile the whole comp.
Thanks very much! Tbh I totally agree RE the first two songs - I think they function better as soundtrack (visual stimulation needed), whereas the third tune is more of a standalone something-fun-to-listen-to. Cheers for listening!
