Description
80s anime inspired retro cyberpunk synthwave music done for the OST Composing jam crunchtime 2

I did this in a couple of DAW sessions, didn't spend much time on it, but I had fun and I think I managed to get some decent ideas that I might develop later on

Message from the artist:
Hi :)

How does it fit the theme?
not really expressed in the final submission, but the coexistence of various ethnics and cultures within a distopic future. I guess just being Cyberpunk already fits the theme lol

Those vocals were a cool mix with the cyberpunk feel. Second track was my favorite, love the toms and melodies, and the glitchy part in the second track was great. Great work!

I really love the filter in the beginning of both songs, very retro and very cool. Also love the vocals throughout the first track, the ethereal sounding at the beginning and then around the one minute mark. I really like the drums in the second track, reminds me a bit of 1979 by the smashing pumpkins, really cool stuff!

Very interesting take on the cyberpunk concept! I'd really love to see your idea developed further into a fuller and more polished version, I think there is some great potential. Great stuff!

Some really great ideas. A little more polish on the mix could have made these tracks really stand out from the crowd!

First track is fantastic...  usage of "magic" chants made it kinda extraordinaire... it's quite experience. Well done!

You have lots of cool ideas here! I love what you did with the vocals, like throat singing or something like that. And I dug the guitar outro to the first song. I almost wish it was it's own song, or it's own soundtrack! Great submission :)

love the chord prog and melodic elements!

Nice soundscape, with that vaporwavy intro in the first one! That speedup was quite unexpected though :D

The second track is also quite interesting, jumping off the ideas that the first track established giving it a nice, cohesive feel, where it sounds like a soundtrack and not two separate songs!

Definitely dig the lo-fi feel throughout, esp with the choral voices in the first track. Gave me Ghost of the Shell vibes!

1) What an amazing idea with these vocals (what library is this?). Very creative mix of synths and instruments.

2) Great atmosphere here, too. And oh boy the 80s vibe is uncanny. That kick&snare!

Excellent mixing and composition, as always! Really enjoyed your choice of instrumentation, and your idea of incorporating non-Western elements into the sound.

Transitions between sections felt very satisfying, and the rhythm section kept things locked down and groove even while you explored more esoteric sounds and instrumentation.

Really good stuff!

Thank you! Appreciate the kind words

Retro Cyberpunk 1: Oh man, nice opening. Love the automation on the bass. Love those synth swells. Somehow, the choir-sound around 0:50 seconds reminds me of Ghost in the Shell a lot. Very cool. Cool, we're speeding up again. Lots of interesting transitions in this one. Suddenly Spanish guitars. Wasn't expecting that. Really like how they fall into the mix though. Some very cool ideas here.

Retro Cyberpunk 2: Nice track. I *love* it when you roll into that second section. Those synths. Those toms. That lead. Magnificent.

I feel in their current state, the second track is my favourite, because it feels a bit more polished, but I do think that the first has the potential to exceed it. There are so many cool ideas in these tracks!

Well, that's because is exactly like a fragment on "the making of a cyborg" from ghost in the shell xD. Thanks a lot

Very creative, I like the bits with the vocals and the bits with the guitar!

Second track was my favorite, but I really liked the classical guitar that comes in at the end of the first track. Nice groove

I really liked the creativity in the first track, nice mashup of various things!

I liked the unique sections throughout track 1, but overall the cohesion and mix of track 2 was much better. Overall, really enjoyed listing to your submission!
