Description
This imaginary game soundtrack compilation is meant to explore the troubled relationship between mother and daughter via magical transportation into the daughter's fantasy world. "Teary Drawings" prefaces the journey's beginning, revealing the sadness and innocence of the daughter, June. After separately being transported into her imaginary world, "Flying Fishies" represents the adventure the mother, Sarah, takes as she desperately searches the lands for her daughter. "A Dark Place" is a brutal wake up call to Sarah, as she gets a first hand view of the pressure that she has inflicted on her daughter, and the consequences it has had on June's mind. And finally, "Inside Her World" is a simple but brief conclusion, representing the newfound harmony found from repairing their relationship, with a hopeful future in sight.

For these tracks, I used Cubase as my DAW! I'm a new composer but I hope you can enjoy the tunes I put together. What a fun Jam and discord community to be a part of!

Message from the artist
I hope you enjoy these tracks as much as I do! Although I'm just entering the world of composing, my aim is to bring a bit of light to the world through musical storytelling. It'll be a journey, but a fun one, that's for sure.

Theme

Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
Pulled from the text theme, my fictional game tracks revolve around the mother and daughter being transported into the magical fantasy world found in the daughter's imagination. Inspired by the picture theme, my songs utilize a lot of fantasy and innocent themes. This was all to tell a story surrounding a troubled mother-daughter relationship, inspired by what I took to be a happy ending in the picture theme :).

Hi August!

Unusual concept, sweet covert art, lovely soundtrack!!!

I really liked the choice of instruments you used in your compositions, I think they have a lot to do with the story and help reflect it very, VERY well. Furthermore, I think you have used very good pacing in each of them and they all progress excellent over time.

WONDERFUL WORK!

A Dark Place: Uses one of my favorite progressions so I'm biased! Fun track.

Flying Fishies: Cute track. Lighthearted adventure vibes.

Inside Her World: Cool progression! Really enjoyed the swap between major and minor tonics.

Teary Drawings: Bittersweet kind of vibe.

Great work!

Aww the pleasure is all mine :)! Gives me tremendous happiness that my OSTs came across as I had hoped!

I appreciate the focus on the melody! Something I could hum or whistle. I think a good way to improve the tracks would be to shift what has the melody at different parts so it feels like there is a lot more movement and changes.

I think you did this well in the first and last tracks but it could go even further by changing more than what instrument holds the melody.

great job all around.

Developer

That's really great feedback, thank you! Melody has always been a main focus of mine as I too love having something to hum and whistle too :D. Juggling instruments for the melody has been quite fun, but there are definitely more strategies I can take to improve that shift of what holds and spices the melody. Maybe adding new repeating elements in the background with brand new instruments alongside the shift of the melody's main instruments would be the way to go?

Very cute! Gave me stardew valley vibes, especially Flying FIshies! ♪(^∇^*)

Oh!! I can definitely imagine that now! Flying Fishies over like the spring festival would be so fitting! Thank you for the fantastic compliment :D

Unique, I loved it. Great job. You have a great start on your composing talents. As a fellow composer, just keep writing and making music, and listening. Those are the best ways to get better! I love the theme, story, and the artwork. Wow that artwork is beautiful! Great job on the music. The first song is my favorite.

Ahhhhh thank you so much ^//u//^. I will gratefully accept your praise and instruction to keep going! I hope I can make more music that you and others will like :)

Really pretty and I really liked your theme/lore for the OST. That would be something I'd love to watch or play!

Developer(+1)

Greatly appreciated :). Writing is quite fun and being able to take that and focus it into music is truly wonderful. It'd be delightful to channel it all into a real game (or even incorporate it into a D&D campaign, haha!)

Really relaxing and I liked the innocence in "Flying Fishes"!

Developer

Thanks! I'm happy it came off that way as it was definitely an objective of mine when I first started writing it ^^

Hey fellow Cubase-ian! :3 You've got some really charming tracks here! The tinkling synths and the melodies remind me a lot of Animal Crossing, and you've done a lot of cool stuff with layering synths and tossing the melody around to different places!

I'd love to hear a little more in the mix for all these tracks - it sounds like most stuff is primarily just down the center (at least to my ear!) and I think you can play around with placing instrumentation in your tracks to enhance your layering even more. Keep at it, you're doing great!

Developer

Much much thanks!! It makes me excited to know my music can give off Animal Crossing vibes, I love that game!! Throwing the melody around has definitely been a fun strategy that really made composing even more exciting for me :). Hmm, mixing. Gotcha! That definitely makes sense, as I've got a lot to learn regarding mixing! Thank you for the tip :)

hey ! this ost is honestly just so cute and melancholic. the charm of your melodies just jive really nicely with your story. super impressive for someone on the newer side to composing?!

Developer

Hoi! Ahh what kind compliments, thank you! It's a great feeling knowing that my music comes off that way, even though I'm definitely new to the scene. ^^

You used very nice sounding synths and it was very soothing!

Developer

Thank you! I've only gotten to work with synths somewhat recently, so it's great that they came off pleasant :)
