Description
Genre: No clue to be honest :|
DAW: Cubase
Game Description:
Simulate is a fast paced roguelike where you help dwellers of the simulation, otherwise known as "simulates", escape by externally controlling the simulates while simultaneously manipulating the simulation. These manipulations include teleportation, no-clipping, terrain deletion, and variable increases, among other things. You will need these manipulations to overcome the obstacles your simulate will face, which include the antivirus, the firewall, and the insane, among other things.
The simulation contains:
Fast paced gameplay and combat.
Unique enemies and bosses to face.
A "manipulation" system, which you can use to bend the simulation to your will.
5 unique simulation sectors to travel (and fight) through.
8 Billion simulates ready for salvation.
Good luck, you'll need it.
Track Representations:
Main Theme: Main menu music, main theme (obviously)
Sector 1, The Simulation: Music for the first area in a run of "Simulate". The first area helps a player get eased into a run before the gameplay and combat ramps up in the later sectors.
Sector 2, Out Of Bounds: Music for the second area in a run of "Simulate". The out of bounds area is a "home base" of sorts for the player, allowing them to rest and stock up for the challenges ahead. It is populated by self aware simulates who know of their true situation (being in a simulation) and many who failed to escape the simulation. Self aware simulate settlements in Sector 2 are always in threat of being attacked by the antivirus created in Sector 3.
Sector 3, The Antivirus Spawner: Music for the third area in a run of "Simulate". This area is the spawn point for the antivirus, the main enemies you encounter in "Simulate". Antivirus hunt down self aware or controlled simulates in order to stop them from escaping. This makes the area perilous for the Simulate you are controlling, as well as the self aware simulates in sector 2.
Sector 4, The Firewall: Music for the fourth area in a run of "Simulate". In this area lies the deadly firewall, a wall that attacks any entity that attempts to pass through it, including Antivirus, although the firewall spawn a special antivirus of its own. In order for a simulate to pass through the firewall, they must disable it through either continuous attacking or through the control room, which is guarded by a superpowered Antivirus.
Sector 5, The Final Defense: Music for the final area in a round of "Simulate". There are rumors of a sector after the firewall that holds the most dangerous of obstacles, but only one simulate has managed to pass the firewall. He never returned, so what's beyond it is mostly unknown, but scouts have heard loud machine-like sounds coming from sector 5. If you manage to enter sector 5, may you have a peaceful death.
Unexpected Freedom: Music for when you complete a round of "Simulate".
Motifs:
The "Freedom" Motif
The "Antivirus" Motif

Tracks are made to be loopable except "Unexpected Freedom".
Theme
How does it fit the theme?
I interpreted "Inside My World" as being inside a world someone else created, more specifically, a simulation. The game the soundtrack is based on is about helping people escape a simulation, which makes this soundtrack fit the theme of "Inside My World".

This made for an interesting listen! The Main Theme actually reminded me of something I might hear in some sort of stealth-driven, espionage game funnily enough.
Digging the choice of instrumentation and synth patches throughout the Sectors. Nice sense of progression in each and repeated use of motifs. Really like the pseudo-breakbeat percussion in Sector 3 in particular - those kind of drums always have me locked in. Good opportunity to also say that the percussion throughout the soundtrack as a whole is nice and varied stylistically which I think is a feat in itself.
Really nice touch having the final track be so tonally driven and absent of rhythms. Bookends the experience nicely, and the orchestration is really well done. With the title being Unexpected Freedom, I felt as though this ending piece had a very pensive feeling to it, which is a cool contrast I think.
All in all, solid work! Produced well, plenty of tracks, nice evolving sense of style throughout.
Thanks!
Yoohoo! More LSD cover-arts!
The Main Theme is a good and slightly crazy start with wonderful "broken" vocals!
Sector 1 - DRUMS. CRAZY SYNTHESIZER PARTS AND UAAAA
Sector 2 - I like the slightly crazy melody and percussion that "walks" through my ears
Sector 3 - I like the more dynamic use of a motif from the previous sector... This track is ROCKING!!!1!
Sector 4 - I feel the scale and fear of something big... Is this really a firewall, and not a GIANT wall three miles high and with a bunch of cannons firing fire projectiles?)
Sector 5 - Despite the fact that it is a boss theme... She makes me feel creepy. HOW?!
Unexpected Freedom is a good ending to the soundtrack
Working with effects at an incredible height. I hear melodic and cool psychedelia... I like this experiment. Cool. You made me experience a full set of strange emotions, huh)
Thanks!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
The entrance of the drum in the second track surprised me (in a good way)! Your overall esthetic with the use of plucked synth all along the tracks give a common identity and the use of leitmotivs that are declined in different speed is really good!
Very solid submission. I liked track 4 the most. The drum and bass went crazy in that one. Everything is cohesive as well. Keep it up!
You captured I think the perfect roguelike OST out of all the jam entries. Outsanding, I could actually visualize the game. I actually there was a game tied to this, and it's one of those OST I would buy a Vinyl for. Amazing! Get a Like and Follow!
Thank you!
Very solid soundtrack all around. Great job!
ooo this concept is so cool it makes me wish i thought of something like this. i actually really love the distortion on the percussion in sector 4 cuz it kind of brings to mind the corruption of digital data in general. great job on crafting a unique inner-tech world for this :D
Thanks! I can't wait to hear your soundtrack :)
Gives me futuristic and electronic vibes like the Matrix. Thanks for sharing this!
Thanks! I was trying to go for a matrix vibe!
Nice take on the theme. The tracks definitely fit it and they are fire! Makes me want to play your imaginative game
This very unique no doubt, we can really feel the build up on each track. Things to look for, most of the tracks are repetitive for too long, probably add something to mix it up. Sector 4, too much distortion its clipping, tone it down a notch and the track is great. Good job !
Yeah I figured. I'm trying to work on making my music less repetitive. Thank you tho!
Great work here! I really dig the energy and feel of these compositions. I also really appreciate your use of dissonance in spots. Extremely well done! "The Firewall" is A+++
Thank you!
Wow! This is incredibly unique among the submissions I've rated so far, both in composition and in concept. You did very well! If I coded, I'd be blasting this shit on repeat lol.
Glad you liked it!
Like the style of this OST, but the game concept is even more fire.
Thanks! I really took some time to think about the concept!
Some of these tracks go really hard! Really cool stuff! Good work
Thank you!
Haven't seen anybody else interpret the theme that way, nice job! It fits really well!
thanks!
