Description
Multiple Genres, I would say one is Arcade, one is Jazz, and one is Electronic
The game I would say is a 3D walking simulator with many, MANY minigames.
Each track is supposed to accompany a minigame in the game.
I composed two of the tracks just by listening and figuring out what sounds good, and then the one titled "Work" I improvised via keyboard typing for the midi.
I used Bandlab, I just find it easy and fun, and cheap
Message from the artist:
I hope you enjoy at least one of these songs
Theme:
How does it fit the theme?
There is ticking sound present in every song

That was fun and unique so keep experimenting!
You've got a really interesting vibe going here! The unique sounds, melodies, and repetitions provide an unsettling, mysterious air that intrigues the listener.
Thanks! The vibe is definitely unique to each minigame it supposed to be for in this videogame
I've listened to this album 4 times now and I do wonder whether I'm slowly going insane. But this might be one of the most original things this jam has produced. I'm not usually a "labels" guy, but I'm curious: do you consider your work avant garde? This would have flown under the radar for me but compositionally it really is something unusual and special, and I hope you're able to capture that uniqueness and infuse it into future work.
I feel I try to produce avant garde work, but with this one I feel as though I took inspiration from existing things I've heard and tried to infuse their essence into each song. As an example I wanted the song "Water" to have the same feel as "Dire Dire Docks" from Mario 64 without being a direct copy, and the song "Work" is inspired by Jazz. I will say for "Flappy File" I was just doing what I thought sounded good. I had an idea which I used in "Flappy File" and "Water", and it was the idea of using diminished chords to represent boredom, I don't know why I though this, but this could be a reason why this album has a unique sound compared to others from this jam, so thank you for the high praise, I hope I didn't ruin this album for you by explaining that I wouldn't consider it avant garde, and if I did I'm sorry. Hope you're having a good day!
Interesting! I wonder whether you’ve found a “sweet spot” in your style between fully avant garde and more traditional VGM - whatever you call it, I find it really exciting.
Wait what. I don't know what's happening but I'm obsessed with this album. The lo-fi drum with wandering sax??? The repeating, unyielding, dissonant melodies?? What is this magic???!!
Thanks! I think that magic is just making what I find sounds good, because if I like it, I'm sure other people will like it :)
Not bad for a beginner, but feels too much repetitions and lack of intensity and richness, anyway, it's great that you decided to participate in Jam, keep going!
Thanks for the kind words and encouragement as well as the feedback!
Although a bit sparse, I think it's lovely! Especially "Work", I feel like that is actually a cool vibe and definitely passes as a soundtrack under the right circumstance! I'd like to double down with Tim here, try adding b sections and/or give progressions to your song. Keep at it, I feel like you'll be awesome if you improve while also keeping in touch with the playful energy I heard from the entry.
Thanks! It does need a bit of variety to it, which I can see why you like "Work", that one I didn't rely on my usual approach which is just using the MIDI editor which is more robotic than just somewhat winging it and fixing little things I think need fixing.
I liked the range of genres you did as well as the choices of instruments and chords that you used. Some constructive feedback- they did get a little repetitive- maybe try adding a b-section to give some variation? (I get it's minigames so there may not be time, but it's always nice to spice things up a bit.) Would like to hear more of your work because sonically it was very interesting and distinctive.
Thanks for the feedback! If I do end up making the game, which I do want to, I'll make sure to fix these tracks up with a b-section to provide less annoyance and boredom.
