Description
This 3 minute orchestra/cinematic suite presents a number of musical ideas that could then be developed to make a full-length soundtrack. There are both epic and intimate moments.
The movements are untitled, but here's the general idea behind each of them:
0:25-0:40 - Main theme
0:40-0:59 - Interlude: Getting ready to embark on adventure
0:59-1:31 - The spirit of adventure
1:31-1:44 - Interlude: The calm before the storm
1:44-2:20 - Rising action/danger
2:20-3:18 - Mission accomplished/main title reprise

Theme:

Runaway
Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
Both picture and title inspired everything in the track greatly. The image made me think of Elder Scrolls games, so the introduction pays a stylistic homage to certain elements of those games. The movements, with varying degrees of intensity, hopefulness, and danger, were all meant to capture different aspects of the classic fantasy hero's journey.

Very memorable main theme. This is beautiful. I like how you pick it up in different variations. very well developed track. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you! It’s hard to write a multi-part suite that feels cohesive and all ties together, but it was a good challenge.

This has such a full and rich sound. The string introduced in the “getting ready for adventure” theme is so expressive and has so much magic behind it with the ethereal choir sounds floating above. The drums of the “rising action” section sounded as if they were encircling me which was so epic! The reintroduction of the main theme was beautiful and rounded the entire piece out to make it feel like a complete OST in a single track. Great work and thank you for sharing!

Beautiful composition where you were able to suggest 'running way'  by clever choices of instrumentation variation throughout the track . Nice one.

Thank you! That was the goal. :)

A lovely and complete soundtrack in 3 minutes! Great work!

Developer

Thank you! All the concepts came to me relatively quickly and tying them together was the hard part, but I think it worked. :)

Incredible! So much packed into 3 minutes.  I feel like I've just watched a game trailer. I would have loved to hear a couple of the themes fleshed out so I could imagine myself playing the game rather than just getting a glimpse.

What DAW did you use?

Developer

Thanks so much. I hope to have time to flesh them out more or maybe even use this for an actual game someday. I work in Logic. Using a bunch of different sample libraries on this one, but the orchestra was mostly Spitfire's BBC Symphony Orchestra, the lead vocal was EastWest's Voices of the Empire, solo violin was Embertone's Joshua Bell Violin, and solo cello was Performance Sample's Pacific Cello freebie.

It really is a masterpiece. It sounds like a very cool, well-staged orchestra. Wow. Transitions between topics are very well worked out. Well done

Thank you so much! Best compliment an orchestral composer can get is to know it sounds realistic. :)

Oooh, nice flute opening. I like how it speeds up as the rest of the song opens. Ah, nice, we're going on an adventure! Excellent violin. Love the little glides.

Here we go. Picking up speed now. I'm picturing our hero on horseback, sprinting through fields of flowers. The percussion really pace the music well here.

A clearing... time to rest. Maybe craft some potions.

Ooh, some nice action rising now. I guess we were just ambushed. Really like the percussion here.

And now all is well again.

It's a great work. The only thing I would've loved is for some of the sections to be longer. Just for the record, I don't mean that as a negative at all. The production is *really* outstanding.

I'm also very curious how you would've done a boss theme. I imagine it would have been amazing with these production skills. I was truly hoping that the second danger section would roll into a boss fight.

All in all, very impressed by the production on display here. I don't know why, but it felt like it could've fit a trailer for a game, the way it shifted so swiftly from concept to concept.

Thank you so much! Loved hearing your commentary. It's always nice to hear how the music is translated to others.

I really wish I had time to develop all of these into full tracks, but I was working on 7 projects this last week. Bit off more than I could chew haha

Feel free to check out my demo reel and reach out if you're ever looking for collaboration, mixing/mastering, or know somebody looking for some music in this style.

I look forward to hearing your tracks later after I get out of class!

I loved the main theme, also  every movement has a lot of personality, it would great if you can explore them in more depth in the future, really great work!

Thank you so much! Yes they will definitely stay in my drafts and ideas folder. Hopefully they can come to life in a game someday. :)
