Description
Worm's Woods is composed in "digital fusion" style, mixing live guitar, chiptune, synths, and sampled instruments. It would fit in a silly adventure-platformer game.

Here is a description of my game:

Worm is bored on the internet one day, when suddenly, they realize that there's a whole dang forest outside their house. Upon this realization, Worm and their baby and venture out into the vast outdoors to hopefully find entertainment.

I think most of the tracks are self explanatory, but for "Consulting the Baby" I think it would be funny if the baby could give you hints or let you activate some sort of assist mode. The baby knows all.

Message from the artist:
hi it's me, the artist! (btw feedback is appreciated)

Theme:

Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
There's a forest and there's a baby

I hadn’t commented after I rated this when I first saw it, but congratulations on your ranking! The soundtrack is amazing; So subtle and calm yet so full of life.

Had to leave a comment, even this late into the jam. From the short format that makes it immediately accessible, to the almost samba vibe you keep throughout, man I just love it. You thread the path of organic instruments  and chiptuny elements perfectly (which is easier said than done correctly). Generally, when I can litterally see the game just by listening to the soundtrack, it's a 10 out of a 10.

I really like that guitar, recording it live really does bring it to life. It reminds me a bit of A Short Hike at times with your mix of instruments. It's really nice, good work!

Thank you! I love A Short Hike's soundtrack

I really enjoyed the mixture of acoustic guitar, synths and chiptune sounds you used; I think it gives the music a lighthearted, silly tone as you described. I especially liked the use of chiptune in the second track, The Forest. Overall, I got kind of an Animal Crossing vibe from the OST which I thought was pretty cool.

Nicely done!

Title: This theme fits the silly game idea you describe wonderfully. The harmonic progression you use takes some unexpected turns in the way that a game like this (that kind of reminds me of Earthbound games) thrives on. I like the fusion of acoustic and electronic instruments a lot. I think your selective use of sound effects adds a lot to the sound and feeling of the track as well.

The Forest: This theme gives me the feeling of mystery and magic. I love the swells that fade in and out. I also think that the use of chiptune percussion is a very stylistic choice that creates a subdued rhythm, but that still drives the piece forward. I would totally explore this gameboy-esque forest!

Consulting the Baby: This is a funny little track, not only because of the idea of a baby teaching you about the forest outside your house, but also because you chose to use a low synth bass as the “voice” of the baby. I had a good laugh at that!

Overall: You created a very complete product for the scope of the kind of game you intended to create. I like that you didn’t take your ideas so seriously because they ended up turning out sounding really great. I would totally play this game because the music and the story make sense together and it creates an immersive experience. Good work and thank you for sharing!

I really like "The Forest." It's a nice tune that would be great for looping while Worm adventures.

I laughed with the idea of consulting the baby! I read the title, and I'm like, do I gently tell them they mean "consoling the baby?"  Nope, you got it! And it's hilarious! I want that game where I check in with my companion baby who just coos out something ridiculous:

Given the premise I expected a sillier composition, but what you came up with actually fits the theme well! Loved the dialogue between the instruments in The Forest, nice job!

Great premise haha! Time to go out and get some fresh air, but not without headphones ;)

The album art made me check out this submission and it didn't disappoint. I felt the music suited the art well, it was calming and sweet. I would like to play this game, be a worm with a baby and vibe.

Track 1: The live guitar, and bass combo is excellent! This track immediately feels cozy-- reminds me a lot of the soundtrack to Garden Story, actually! This is an A+ track: you say what you wanna say musically, without any added fluff, and do so in a clearly defined sonic world. It's perfectly done!

Track 2: The addition of more intense drums gives this track a new tone, while the guitar, bass and chiptune tie it in to the last one. Great use of modes here, too. Loved that looser B section-- couldn't quite feel the beat, which was a cool effect actually...

Track 3: Very interesting track... sounds almost like a holiday track from Animal Crossing, wish I could remember which one... definitely love the sparser orchestration.

In all, you achieve great things in a short and sweet way. Top-notch music in a bite-size portion, written with great detail... and of course, major props for recording the guitar! A perfect score in my book. Bravo, and keep writing!

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts! It's also interesting to see what other soundtracks it reminds people of, seems like a lot of people think of Animal Crossing, which I've never actually played. I'll also definitely check out Garden Story!

The second section of The Forest is interesting, it switches from 3/4 to 4/4 and I accidentally made part of it start on a weird part of the measure, but it sounded fine so I decided not to question it lol

Sweet tunes, like someone said, very animal crossing like. I would've love more instrumentations and variation though to mix it up a bit more.

Nice vibes and love the unique combination of chip sounds and organic instruments. Favorite track is the Forest, big fan of the chords used.

What a lovely feeling this soundtrack invokes! Such feelgood vibes.

The opening track is super relaxing. It is a really welcoming introduction to the world.

I think in The Forest you managed to capture this wonderful feeling of curious exploration. I can just imagine walking through an 8-bit world, checking out the various locales in the forest. Maybe there are small animals there that you can talk to? I bet there are small secrets to be found!

I also quite like Consulting the Baby. Especially that bass and downward moving synth give me a whimsical almost silly feeling that would complement the absurdity of the consulting the baby well I think. :D

I love how this soundtrack really feels like a soundtrack. I imagine if this were to be set to a game it'd never be too much in your face and just pleasantly play the game with you. Great work!
