Interesting concepts put on display in a different story structure than what I would normally expect. Definately a type of rock and hard place situation. For better or for worse, it makes you think. Survival can be a harsh thing.
I see what you did there! And I liked it! ^^
A complex interplay between the evolution of an alien race and the implications of unchecked progress. Marsh presents a thought-provoking story that illustrates the price of logical decisions devoid of emotions.
Very nice take on the DAO and Orc relationship. I really like that, even after they had become an advanced society, they still called their geneticists "the GeneBoyz". You can take the Orcs out of the Waaaagh, but you can't take the Waaaagh out of the orcs as it were.
A somber, mournful ending. It was interesting to have the story placed in a wider scope, instead of a more personal one. I also like the names. Is there a Deep Space Nine reference in there, or am I just imagining things?
The story felt eerily similar in concept to your previous one, "the Talking Stick." Same vein at least. I hope to see something fresh next time.
All in all, I liked your story. I'm excited to see what's next from you.
Don't sleep on this one folks. The blurb doesn't do this story justice. I wasn't expecting philosophical musings!
