The three wanna-be baddies are well established as lovable (albeit misguided) scamps right from the beginning who aren't reallly cut out for being being people.  Really fun story to read, it twists the prompt in a interesting way, and I love the idea of a group of ne'er-do-wells being so incompetent at being evil that they just become good.

Developer

Yeah, they want to be fearful and terrifying figures but they just... can't... quite... get there! I'm glad you liked it and I'm very pleased that the direction I went with the prompt has landed so well!

Very fun read! Great concept and execution with the theme. This group can have all sorts of misadventures in any setting

Developer

Thank you very much. 'Very fun read' is always what I'm shooting for with my work, so I'm glad to have hit the mark here. I wanted also with this piece to play with the theme and the ideas it evoked, and I've been very gratified that it seems to have resonated with a great many readers.

Great inversion of the theme, and I really love the story of three 'outcasts' banding together to do 'evil' against the town they think misjudged them only for their attempts to get payback actually spread some good will. Something these grimdark or fantastic worlds could do with from time to time.

Developer

Thank you - I'm glad you enjoyed it. Grimdark really isn't my cup of tea, so when I really get to grips with a grimdark setting I tend to want to turn it on its ear one way or another. :)

I really liked how the theme was flipped on its head. As someone who likes to rebel a bit against prompts, I'm definitely taking notes on the use of its phrasing! A fun short story that leaves room for further antics in a follow-up.

Thank you - I appreciate the praise! I know I've said this on your own story's page, but I liked what you did with the theme as well, where you played into the cultural aspects of the prompt, so I'm very gratified that you liked where I took it.

The way you used this prompt is quite frankly incredibly clever and reminds me of some of my favorite short stories. You had me grinning ear to ear.

Developer

That's wonderful to hear - I was hoping for a grin or two so I'm glad you enjoyed it. :)
