XD This was my second game jam, and first done with the build in voting system. I had no idea how to do this stuff yet lol
Now I know!

Yep, pretty new to me too , I've only done 3 or 4 and they were all the same month, but I was bored lol. :) btw, I uploaded a new version of my game, I changed a fair bit of stuff, and it might be even harder now lol, but I seem to have fixed prior issues. :)

Yassss! I’ll check it out!

Awesome! This is the kind of game I like to see. An original take on old concepts. My only critique here is that the ground tiles sort of blended in with the background a bit. However, I am slightly color deficient so that could just be me. Lol. Either way, I really enjoyed playing Wretched Blade and I'm excited to see more!

Thanks!

Ya you’re probably right, I’m really not much of an artist. XD

Though thinking about it, you’re probably referring to the hidden blocks that you slash to make into platforms.

It never crossed my mind that that could be difficult for people with visual impairments to see. They’re supposed to be hidden, but you’re still supposed to be able to catch them. Do you think I should just remove that function, and just automatically make them the platforms?

No, no. I meant the ACTUAL ground. Lol. I actually really like the slashing of those invisible blocks. Cool use of the mechanics. I think you got something here. For real.

Developer

You guys are the best.

not much of an artist? .... umm, looks pretty good to me

pressing escape but game wont start, running under wine

Developer

Hmm... I don't know much about Linux compatibility with Gamemaker games. I'll try to figure something out for you. I may be able to make a build for Linux. I'll get back to you tomorrow!

Developer

So it looks like there has been some compatibility issues over the years. But I can't find much information that is current. I also can't make a Linux version because i need a separate module for GMS2 for that, apparently.  :-/
If you have a usb controller, that may work, it was designed with that in mind. I'm sorry I can't be of more help! I'm pretty new to all of this still.

(+1)

i see, usb controller like a joystick? oh awesome! that does work! i didnt knew it was mapped to a controller!

Developer

YAY! I'm glad it works. I designed the game with a controller in mind. Personally I will never design a game with just keyboard controls, unless the gameplay specifically requires a mouse to play.
Weird that the keyboard isn't working though :-/
Wait, did you have the controller plugged in before? If the controller is plugged in, the game switches from keyboard to gamepad controls, that could be why!

(+1)

!!! that was it! haha you should clarify this! i didnt even knew it was listening to joystick! and probably make it listen to both unless you are afraid there is some exploit possible. just clarify on the help so judges dont get stuck =) good luck!

Developer

I do mention in the Manual, in the description, and in the games Splash screen, that a gamepad is recommended. XD
But I will put in the description that specific issue. :P

(+1)

lol, you are right. sry about that =P yeah just mention the issue, can't you detect in-game that gamepad is plugged? this issue shouldnt exist, seems super odd

Developer

Yeah, I just have it set up in a switch statement, so if a gamepad is plugged in it overrides the keyboard controls. I can change it, and I will when judging is done.

HOLY $#!T

THIS IS AWESOME!!!

Thanks! God, I worked so hard on it. Like 14 hours a day for the entirety of the Jam. I feel like death. XD
