01. Hey, I'm Kane RayNov and I am a little crazy Guy from Germany. My English is pretty bad, at least the writing, but understanding and reading is very good, so sorry if you have to read misspells or typos written by me.

02. No, this is my first game jam. My reason for joining is the fact I heard that this can help many people to reach their goals and get cool infos about the own project and what can be done better. And also that I can give my experience to others, if this is appreciated.

03. My favorite games are RPGs, RTS and textbased adventures. But the games that inspires me are only the textbased adventures, because they can build whole worlds only with words ;)

04. I have some experience with game dev, I've programmed prototypes of TDs, adventures and FPS. I've worked with the Unreal Engine, Blender, RPG Maker (XP, VX, VX Ace and MV), Game Maker Studio and Unity. Currently I use Unity.

05. I'm coding very often, I write Stories and I like to draw and sketch

06. My Goals are for this GameJam the following Points:

 - A "Roguelike Textbased RPG" in a little Environment where I can build upon when the jam is over. I want to code a basic Script for the World Generation, where the player can interact with every in the text marked object through commands. Maybe, if I have the time, than I want to add a little combat system in it, and a little quest should be very nice. This are my goals for this jam, seems legit I think.

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

Hi. I am Ibrahim. I am 16 years old. I consider myself a beginner. I have many ideas. But I am not  experienced enough to make it

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

I didn't. But I participate in other game jams

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

I always loved sandbox games. And games that have level editor mode. Like Minecraft, Super Mario Maker, Geometry Dash. And at some point I wanted to  make my own game

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

I use Godot Engine. I started many project. But I barely finished them. Mainly Because I lost motivation. Most of the Games I made were  platformer. And Shoot them  up.

6. What are your goals for this game jam

I want to challenge myself. And get out of my comfort zone. And try to make another game genre that I never made before

1.Hi! My name is Stompie and I've been making games on and off since I was 12 .

2.No i did not, i had been using GameMaker to create my games, until i discoverer Unity and c#. I want to learn more and get better at creating games. Also I've never shown my games to anyone and i think its high time i do :)

3. My favorite video game of all time is The Elder scrolls v : Skyrim and boy did it inspire me! I played it relentlessly to the point that i felt like i had done everything of note there was to do. Naturally i gravitated to using console commands to squeeze every bit of fun out of the game , then I started to see how mods worked and how they where made. That was  in 2012 and I've been in love with game development ever since.

4. I downloaded GameMaker Many years ago. I was way to young to understand the ins and outs of gamedev but i did get a basic understanding of what was going on so for a 5th grade business project i made a game called "Dude" (really not worth describing ). I worked on and off on games till i was 18 and then switched to unity and started to learn code creating fun little projects that i kept secret and hidden out of embarrassment.

5.Playing video games . video games are my life through and through, i have no other talents or aspirations, its all i know its what i'm best at and they have thought me many may life lessons. No matter how bad quality a game may be i always get immersed, they made me cry like a little baby more times than id like to admit :D. I hope to one day spread my own  kind of message through my projects and inspire people to do the same.

6. Like i said I've never shown anyone anything I've created , I've just been doing this on my own ,the reality is that I've wanted nothing more in my life than to  be involved in this community, but i have always been afraid to show myself. I hope that by finally showing people what I'm capable of that it might cause a sort of snow ball effect where i make game free from the fear of judgement  and thinking i'm not good enough or i don't belong. Above all i want to meet people and make friends i love every aspect of this and i cant wait to play all the awesome games you guys come up with :)

1. I'm Aleksandr. I have more 4 years of web development (Java in backend and Angular in frontend). I dream to develop games for a long time. Now I learn LibGDX framework and hope I can make something playable and fun. :-)

2. Nope, this is my first one.

3. I like some TBSes (Heroes III, Civilization IV, Eador: The broken world), RPGs (Neverwinter Nights, Morrowind, Titan Quest, Mount & Blade). These games have inspired me, gave me much fun and ideas, that I would to implement in some great day in my own games.

4. Very little. When I was learning a programming I created a very simple HTML game in Heroes III style. I did not use any engine or library, but only pure HTML+CSS+JavaScript. It worked even without canvas! Its code was awful :-) More later I've created Minesweeper using PixiJs. I want to use LibGDX in this game jam but actually I have not yet decided finally. Maybe I'll choose something else.

5. Programming, looking for solution of difficult tasks, and of course games!

6. To make a game, to learn something new, to get a feedback and an advice from experienced game developers, and to get fun! :-)

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

Hello! I am Red Lily. There’s not much to say, other than I love mythology, art, stories, and games.

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

While this is my first jam from this particular category, this isn’t my first ever game jam. I participated in the Scream Solstice Jam a month ago with my entry Kraehe. My main reason for joining this jam is to add another game into my repertoire. And hopefully develop my own skills in the meantime.

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

My all time favorite games are the Final Fantasy series, Parasite Eve, Kingdom Hearts, Haunting Ground, and the Mario Bros. More recently, Bloodstained and Child of Light have entered the list of favorites. I’ve always wanted to make my own game for as long as I can remember.

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

I have some experience working with game development. I’ve developed a 3D solo project titled Equinox, and I’ve worked on a team game. Both times have been for school, though. And both times, I’ve used Unreal Engine 4. I’ve since switched to Unity and RPG Maker. For the Scream Solstice jam, I created Kraehe while TheWalker, someone else, created the game’s original music.

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

I’m passionate about art and storytelling. And video games in general.

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

My goal for this jam is to develop my teamwork skills, and hopefully polish off old ideas I’ve had laying around forever.

1. Hey guys I'm BDP_01, and I would like to introduce myself.

2. Very first game jam. I hope to learn more about the process of creating games and to have fun as well.

3. Where do I start? Skyrim, botw, Smash Bros, Minecraft, and plenty more to list. Games overall have inspired me to learn the game creation process.

4. I am currently at San Jacinto getting an Associates degree in game design/simulation. I have touched Unity and Tiled(a 2d level editor)

5. Video games is pretty obvious, but also to learn different things, even if they are not game related.

6. My main goal for this is to actually create a game with people, regardless of how bad or unfinished it is.

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

Hi! I'm a Carrot! Not much to say, except that I'm new here.

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

No, this is my first jam. Basically, I joined because I have toyed with bits and pieces of video game creation, so I want to see if I can gather it all together to make a whole video game.

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

My favorite game is Undertale, my favorite game series is The Legend of Zelda. And yes, they are in part responsible for my desire to make games.

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

Experiences? Kind of. I never published any game, so this would be the first time, but I did write a couple of very small ones. The usual, really: Snake, Sokoban, a square that can jump on another square and can reach the "exit", which is also a square, working on a space invader clone then dropping it halfway in...

As for engines, well the ones I use regularly are SDL and Godot. All of those projects (both finished and half-finished) have been made with either one of these two.

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

High fantasy litterature. There's just something about a Magical world filled with Elves, Faeries, Dragons that clicks with me.

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

Have a playable game by the end of it. And have fun, of course.

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

Charles, aka chaslinux. I'm 50. I dabbled in game development in the 80's trying to write games in assembler on the Commodore 64, but ironically got stuck because I couldn't slow down my sprite movement enough in assembler (you'd pull down on the joystick and the sprite in the middle would become a ruler-sized blur in the screen). Gamedev seemed really difficult then. A couple of years ago I started getting the itch again watching Youtube. I bought GameMaker 1.4 on a Humble Bundle not long after, but didn't start any kind of development until several months after.

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

This is my first game jam. I've been working on the same "small" game for 2 years, declared it finished, then worked on it some more.  I'd like to finish a different game. Recently I've learned quite a bit more about GameMaker so I'd like to try out some of the things I've been looking up. I've also found there are a lot of really great, supportive game developers on different forms of social media and this appears to be another chance to get to know others with the same interest.

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

The Youtuber responsible for helping re-scratch the gaming interest was ThinMatrix. Watching him build Equilinox in Java was really inspiring. I played a lot of games in the 80's that were really fun back then but have been lost in the flash and glitz of today's AAA titles.

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

Very little. The development I've done on my 2 year project has really been spread out. There was at least 6-8 months where I did almost nothing on the project. Going back to it was very difficult at first, but it's been a lot of fun for the last few months. I've decided to stick with GameMaker (I bought GMS2 after buying 1). I'm more into drawing sprites than modelling, but I don't have an art background.

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

Family. This is one of the reasons game development has been a challenge, trying to work and spend enough time with family, but also develop games.

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

Use some of the techniques I've been learning to create something a bit more dynamic, but keep it small in scope. When I came back to my project I started re-editing some of my existing code, improving things, finding bugs I didn't know existed, and organizing things better (#region - thank you FriendlyCosmonaut).

Finishing something very different from my main project.

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

Hello! My name is Nikita and I am from Russia. My English may not be very good. I apologize for this)

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

This is my first jam and I want to try my hand at this business. And also share your project with other people. Get criticized and evolve.

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

I love Blizzard games. Especially World of Warcraft. And I also like to play various indie games because of their beauty, simplicity and unusualness.

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

I have little experience in developing games. I have not finished yet even my first project. I make games on Unity.

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

I think that my passion is game design. I can generate two ideas for games in a day. Ideas are enduring. Due to a lack of experience, I am still not compiling documentation well.

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

I want to get experience in game development. Finish the project. And make yourself known to the community of game developers.

What was the point of that entrance poll?

(1 edit)

1. Hi all! Chain here.

2. I did join the last jam. This time  around I want to make a platformer instead of a turn-based RPG. And I'll try to make more original assets this time.

3. Favorite games? I'm not sure... There's too many titles from  so many genres. :D. Some of them are Digimon World, Patapon, and Monster Hunter. For the game I want to make for this jam though, my #1 inspiration (and I guess you can call it a reference) is Tomba 2.

4. I have so little experience in game dev that I'd say it's non-existent. The only gamedev-y experience I have is messing around with RPG Maker-like engines. I don't have much skill in arts and programming either.

5. Lately I don't feel really passionate about anything...? Some ideas do fly around my head every now and then. This time I want to catch some of them.

6. My main goal is being productive. That's it. The game would be an added bonus. The technical goal would be copying the grappling mechanic from Tomba 2. Something clear that I can reference. From that point I'll add my own twists and make assets if I have the time.

7. Try to start small and do -or at least plan- things evenly. Also, rescoping in the middle of the jam is totally cool!

8. None that I can think of. Keep up the good work, admins. :)

9. Making this actually took me a good 2 weeks... Haven't touched it since last jam but I still have ideas for it brewing in my head. Here's my submission for last jam... "Just Annother RPG"

Good luck everyone! Here's to all our fruitful journey for the 2 weeks ahead!

1) Hi! I'm Mirus! I'm an 18 year old...

2) Participating in my first game jam! I happened to see it at the right time. I was just thinking that I needed to derust my gamedev skills and out came a nice beginner's game jam!

3) I enjoy a lot of games with unique movement systems, such as Mirror's Edge and Frostrunner. Their momentum-based gameplay inspired my idea for this game jam!

4) Yes! I've only used Unreal Engine 4, but I've made two games with it (one test first game, and another year-long game made with a team called Konzentra). I was the leader of the project, but I mainly did programming. However, I also helped with modelling, art, level design, music and some other stuff.

5) I love music and maths, as well as computer science! I'm currently applying for CS and Applied Maths majors for college, and am really looking forward to it. I enjoy problem solving and especially like working on the creative aspect of mechanics creation. I also like making levels, (simple) modelling and music making!

6) I want to learn about making "feel-good" movement mechanics primarily. Of course, I also want to derust. Additionally, I want to practice my 3D level design and get experience with first person games.

1. My name is Miguel Pimentel, the words in bold are my answers. The words in italics are my teammate's.

2. I joined, but I didn't participate. Hopefully, we can remedy that this time! I didn't participate last time, I joined because he told me to.

3. Yes! My favorites to this day are the Portal Series, but I grew up around video games. I always wanted to bring smiles to people the way video games did to me. This is a light foray into attempting to do just that. The idea for our game came about from a TTRPG that one of us runs. Final Fantasy 7 and Xyst MUSH are my favorites that also inspired me to try my hand at programming in the first place.

4. Not really, the closest I have is a Russian Roulette game that was text only. It very easily led to a bloodbath because I ran the 1-6 for each "player" which means the same round could take out every one. I played with Tiny MUSH, RenPy, Construct 2, and Twine, but I don't have any real experience.

5. I really, really enjoy programming. That, and video games. I enjoy writing and art.

6. Make a client / server connection, and make a final product.

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

Heya! Name's Jill, livin out in rural Uruguay lookin at birds and loving games, sorry if my english sounds kinda awkward

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

Nope! I decided to join because this seems like a really sweet way to get into game development, I've also been having issues making anything lately and learning something new alongside a set deadline feels like it'll help!

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

Most of my inspiration and love for gaming comes from indie games, ever since I first learned about Cave Story when I was 11 up til' now my steam library is fill ot the brim with the love projects of small teams. my favorite games fluctuate quite a bit but ones I can always remember will be things like Iji, Copy Kitty and the previously mentioned Cave Story

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

None whatsoever! This will be my first time making any kind of playable project, and although a bit nervous, Im excited!

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

Writing! although I've hit a bit of a brain-block lately, I love developing characters and worlds of my own, but I don't have much of a "literary genius". Other things would include cooking, always have, if it weren't for the $$$ needed for applying for the course I probably wouldve studied it, and lastly, I've tried my handful at drawing! though maybe I need a couple more bags of disposable hands.

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

Mostly? Just learn! Learn what goes into making a way, learn the way I enjoy this process, honestly just have fun with it! I'm obviously hoping to finish something, but my set goal is learning.
