1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?
'Sup, the name's Revenge.

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

Yeah. It ended up as a disaster last time, but this time, I plan to try again and end the jam with a better game.

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

Touhou. Yeah, all of them.

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

Yep, with Godot engine. And to an extent, Warcraft III world editor which is surprisingly a pretty great tutorial for beginners.

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

Touhou and weebstuff

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

To try again and do better than last time.

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

Hey! My name is Candler, you can call me by that or my username. I just recently got into coding/game development, and am having a blast so far.

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

This is my first ever game jam, I'm joining for the experience, learning opportunities, and to help my self increase the scope of creativity for myself.

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

My favorite types of games are the ones that give of their own charm. Whether it be a game that's half finished but you can see what the creator was going for, or a project that was abandoned years ago but is open to play at any time. My absolute favorite games I've played are: The Stanley Parable, The Beginner's Guide (Out of all the game's I've ever played, this has brought me back so many times. Absolutely enamoured), Excellent Game by BK-TN on gamejolt. There's a whole list of games that I love mostly for nostalgic purposes (Super mario 64, SSBM, Mario sunshine, turok 2, Doom, etc).

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

I'm currently working on a project called Blocket Ship, developing it for both PC and Mobile, has really helped me get a better feel for game development. Making it in Unity. It's a 2D game but I have virtually zero experience with 3D

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

Language learning, I just reached my goal in spanish about a couple months ago, I just love learning several things in general. Coding is a new hobby turned passion aswell. Loving it.

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

Maybe learn some 3D game development and use the skills I've learned from my own personal projects in other ways.

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

hello, everyone. I'm Iakoff, and this is my first game jam!

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

I joined the jam for two reasons. One, because I really like the idea of being given a theme and building something -a videogame, in this case -around it. I know this jam's theme will be optional, but I'll still most likely keep it in mind when making my game -unless I really can't think of anything to do with it! Reason number two is that I want to start getting acquainted with the indie gamedev community, and because I think it will be fun to see other people's projects come to life and share my own project with them.

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

My favorite games mostly belong to the RPG genre. Final Fantasy IX is my favorite game of all time, followed close by FFVI and Chrono Cross (yes, Cross!). Some of my other favorite games include Shadow of the Colossus, Resident Evil 1-3, Silent Hill 1-3, Fable I, Daggerfall, Crusader Kings II and, perhaps the outlier here, Fight Night Round 3.

All of these games have inspired me in one way or another. FFIX and VI have some phenomenal characters. Chrono Cross has one of the most beautiful OST's I've ever listened to. Shadow of the Colossus is unique in a variety of ways... well, I could keep going on and on, lol.

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

My, this is a long story. I've had an interest in game development for something like... fifteen years? I don't even remember when I started, anymore. I think it was trying to code a game using Perl. At some point I came across RPG Maker. The XP version was the brand new toy back then, but I never used it that much. I liked 2000 and 2003 better. I made some (very) small games with those, but never finished a full one, sadly. Still, I learned many useful things, like some notions of programming, doing non-horrible looking pixel art, stuff like that.

Eventually, I began learning programming. I started with Java and JavaScript but I ended up mostly focusing on Python. Unfortunately, not long after that I had to put my interest in game development (and all my other hobbies, really) to one side, because life got weird. Probably the reason why most of my favorite games are pretty old. But nevermind that, we're not here for sob stories. The thing is that I ended up pursuing a different career, and for some years I didn't go back to anything related to videogames, programming, etc.

Recently, like many others, I've found myself working from home because of the pandemic. Suddenly, I had a lot more free time, so... why don't go back to that thing I really used to like? And that's what I've been doing for the last three months. I found out about the Godot engine and fell in love with it. I've been learning to use Blender (don't expect a 3D game yet, though, lol). I've been having a blast. Luckily, I seem to remember just enough not to be helpless at everything. I've been making (and finishing!) some small learning projects, and I'm feeling confident enough to challenge myself to a jam. And will you look at that! 'My first jam' is about to start! Perfect!

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

Creating things. Throghout my life, I've joined writing contests, I've taken art classes, I've learned to play a couple of instruments. I just love making stuff. And that is what I really like about game development: I can take all of those things and make something with them.

Also whales. I flippin' love whales.

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

Well, I've had an interest in game development for long, but I've never showed it to anyone. Why? Because I used to think it was scary, and that my stuff wasn't good enough. I want to change that. I'm no genius, of course, but I can't get better if only I judge my work. So that's my goal. I want to just make something, be like "here, look at it!" and have people tell me why they love it and why they hate it. I know it sounds silly, but it will be a big step for me.

That's also why I wanted to join a jam. Because all the games will be made in a short period of time, none will be perfect, probably few will be complete, and I will feel more comfortable sharing my own lousy, incomplete project :)

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

Hi. You can call me Nano, or just call me by my user name.

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

This is my first time joining a jam.  I'm currently motivated to create my own interactive fiction from... something. It was just yesterday but I can't rememner anymore. Then I found this jam and thought "Why not?". I would also like to finish a game all by myself, as all my previous succesful attempts I did it with other people. I think having a time limit and a theme will motivate me better.

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

I love games like Harvest Moon: Back to Nature, Stardew Valley, Graveyard Keeper, etc. I also love Undertale. In general, I like games that tell a story, have a unique concept, and I can go back to play it any time I want even if I forget that I even have that game for like a year. I have wanted to get into game development for years now, even consider going to school for it but in the end decided to keep it as a hobby of sort. I want to create games to tell stories.

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

I have used Stencyl to create a game for a high school competition once. It was very simple and we didn't get any prize. I went to a camp that taught me to make a game with Python once. I did the code with a friend. Both times the games were finished within the time limit( a few hours and a few days), but I wasn't working on it alone. They also weren't the type of game that I would choose if I work by myself. I have tried out RPG Maker(VX or VX Ace? I'm not sure) and Unity, but nothing came out of it. I just downloaded Twine today. I'm still looking around and reading about what I can do with it.

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

I LOVE READING! I just love it. Most of the time when I'm awake is spent reading or searching for something to read. I mostly read fanfictions right now. Other than that, I want to write stories. I have too many plots and concepts that I want to write about but never get to do because I'm terrible at time management.

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

Finish a game in the timeframe and make the story at least a little interesting. Also learning to use Twine to do things.

1) I'm David a software developer getting into game dev.

2) Nope, just want to find an excuse to practice on a schedule

3) Adventure games like Full Throttle. The Chzo Mythology, Sam and Max. Jedi knight 2, Half life 2 ,Outlaws. I always wanted to make my own adventure game or FPS. So far haven't.

4) So far I've published 2 games. One was for a game jam. The other was a personal project. Both made in Unity. I've dabbled with RPG maker and using extensions. Also played with Godot before.

5) I like games that you can learn about their world outside of exposition

6) work on polish and make a mouse focused game

NEW JAMMER HERE!!!
1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

Hi I’m Madipup, aka Madi! I’m a digital artist of nearly 10 years, and game design is a huge passion of mine.

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

I have never participated in a jam before, and I plan on making this my first one! I want to get experience making a game on my own, instead of constantly procrastinating and being intimidated by programming.

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

Undertale, Stardew Valley, and FEZ are the games that made me really want to become an indie developer. They sparked something in me that no other games made me feel.

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

I have a little bit of experience with Clickteam Fusion. I made a small game on the Google Play store. However, the engine I want to use and I love is Unity.

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

I am passionate about the way games can inspire others to learn and make their own games. I want to be a light in someone’s life. I also love the way games can make someone feel. It’s like an interactive story book in my opinion.

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

My goals and intentions are to gain experience and complete my first game within a deadline. I want to move onto other jams and projects and continue to keep learning after this.

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

Hi! My name is Fatima, but I also go by Silly online!

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

I did not participate in last year's game jam, but I did participate in another one back in the Summer of 2018! I tried to make a platformer game and tried to make a level but... didn't really worked out b/c I had no idea what I was honestly doing on Unity lol.

I'm coming back to this jam to develop a Twine visual novel instead (easier and honestly my favorite to do!) to develop a world for my characters!I've created some Twine games and they've been super fun to make and I wanna make more of them! What I plan on doing better is learning how to manage my time better and also learn a little bit more about what Twine is like so that maybe... I can play around with certain things in it and make my game more unique!

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

I like all kinds of games from platformers (Super Mario), to Adventure (Legend of Zelda),  to fighting games (basically any Dragon Ball Z game). I have been getting into visual novels recently (like Serre, Butterfly Soup, DDLC, etc.) because I love the various outcomes you can make with every choice you make.

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

I've dabbled with Unity but I'm not very confident in my skills to make a game on it so I just stick to making games on Twine. I made a Twine game for my Senior Media Project last year called "pythia_logs" which you can check out on my page!

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

I LOVE ART!!! And I love talking about shows and media I'm into! And I adore my characters a lot!

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

My goals for this game jam is to complete at least two routes for my game.

7. Any advice to new participants? Remember to pace yourself, know what your skillset is, and keep the scope of your project in mind when working on it.

8. What can the admins do to improve your jam experience? Provide more resources to tutorials on game dev/game design programs?

9. What are some of the past works you've made for the jam? Show off your favorites! I do have a dev blog of the game I tried to make but I never made a demo for it. I hope to make one for it someday. Here's a link: https://fates-journeydev.tumblr.com/

Hello, new jammer Melon here.

Reason for joining: I've been lurking this series of jams for a while, but this is the first one I've had time to participate in. Game jams I've been in before have been really fun, and I'm sure this one will be too!

Favourite/inspiring games: I'm a big fan of strategy games, particularly RTS. I'm also fairly big on TT/RPGs, visual novels, or anything with a compelling story. My inspiration this jam is some of the various TCG from my childhood (like Pokemon, Yugioh, or mother-of-all Magic: The Gathering!) and to a lesser extent autochess.

Past experience: I am just a hobbyist, so have mostly made fangames(using things like RenPy/Twine) and game mods(mainly Blender 3D) in the past, and I am now trying to move into more original content.

Passion: I am a musician by trade, and it's almost always what I find most compelling in a game.

Goals for this jam: For this jam, I will be trying to make a TCG/CCG. My goal here is to expand my horizons a bit and try to get into the number crunching of a game, and what systems might make it strategically interesting, without worrying too much about wrangling software (I am very clumsy with code, despite my efforts) and the various tricky problems that come either with AI or with multiplayer/online play.

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

Hi I'm Meezlo! I am a first timer trying to make good use of my free time.

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

I didn't, but recently I've tried to get into coding because it has always been an interest of mine, and now because of the field of work I want to go into, I figure learning new skills like this is beneficial.

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

I've always loved creepy indie games (Fran Bow, Sally Face, Alice is not Dead etc.) , but I also appreciate pixel games (Undertale, Please Don't Touch Anything etc.) and games that are more story/text based (West of Loathing).

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

I don't have any real experience but I've been playing around with Game Maker for a little while and am really psyched to try more!

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

I love art and animation. For the profession I'm going into, it seems like games are a large part of the industry. I draw almost all the time and make stories just as often.

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

To create a game that I am proud of and that is visually interesting.

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

Hi, I don't want to say my name for reasons, but you can call me ataby, and I don't know how to indroduce myself so... no, sorry.

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

No, it's the first game jam I try. I joined it because every single game I worked on I just gived up, so this time I want to complete a game for once in my life.

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

I really like Metroid and Mega Man X, they inspired me, and my inspiration made me try doing fangames and stuff, so I started learning programmation. And now, 2 years later, I'm here.

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

Yes, I have experienced 4 engines, Unity, Game Maker, Clickteam Fusion and Construct. I don't know much about Unity and GM, but Clickteam and Construct are the ones I mostly use. Principally Construct 3, is the one that I'm using for this jam.

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

Drawing, I really like making my ideas come true in the paper, drawing make me feel relaxed, and know that the idea that I had and added it to the paper will be there forever, calms me. And of course, games.

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

Learn to focus on a single project, and learn more programmation.

Sorry if it was to simple, It's my first time doing this

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

Hi, my name's Alexis. Living in the US and recently graduated college, hoping to be a successful (or at least published) writer sometime in the future but first I have to get through my issue of having too many ideas and not finishing any of them D:

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?
No. I'm joining this jam because I've been meaning to make a game for a while now but have been struggling with sitting down and actually getting beyond the concept stage, so hopefully having a deadline that I didn't set myself will be just the thing to kick me into gear. I also want to eventually get into the game industry, but I have nothing to show for my work and this is probably a good place to figure out if game design is really for me.

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?
I really love RPG games, and my all-time favorite is Dragon Age: Origins, but there are a ton of close runner-ups. Really, though, I'll love any game that can make me cry or leave an empty hole in me when I've finished it, and ones that put heavy emphasis on story and characters. I'd say the Dragon Age series and The Witcher 3 (and pretty much any series where even small choices can matter) have inspired me the most due to how much your choices can impact the story or world or how people respond to you.

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?
What little experience I have is from messing around with Twine and the Choice of Games' ChoiceScript

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!
Video games! Question 3 was actually hard for me to answer fully because I have so many favorite games and so many games inspire me and if I went into detail on that question then this whole thing would be too long. I'm also really into fantasy because the possibilities of what can exist are endless, and I love all the things that people can do with magic.

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

To finish a game, or at least to get halfway done with one, and to actually just sit down and do it at all.

Submitted

Yesss, a Dragon Age fan! If you don't mind me asking, what's your favorite origin? I think mine is mage but I still haven't done all of them, though overall my city elf is probably my favorite warden I've had.

I don't mind at all! I haven't played them all yet either, but so far I think mage has the coolest origin story, too. I get the feeling though that once I get around to playing through a dwarven commoner that might change. My favorite warden and the one I keep replaying is my human noble, but tbh I'd rank that origin as the most boring compared to the rest.

Submitted

Oh nice. I've always wanted to play a human noble but I can't decide if I want her to be queen or to stay a warden with Alistair (I know DA fans are divided over him but I'm squarely in the pro column). My last warden was actually a dwarf commoner and I would definitely recommend it. Orzammar and the deep roads are usually some of my least favorite parts but it really gave them a new dimension for me.

I'll be looking forward to seeing what you do for the jam!

I always stay a Warden with him, but also I think it might help if you know whether you're going to harden or soften him. I always feel too guilty to make him king when he's softened. And yeah, I can imagine how different Orzammar stuff is when playing as castless, so I'm excited to eventually get around to doing it.

I'm also looking forward to what I'll be doing;;;; I have no idea, but I'll figure it out! Hopefully. And I'm interested in seeing what you end up making!

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

Hello, it’s nice to be back! I’m Kayleigh, a combination illustrator/game developer, recent MFA graduate of CCAD (Ohio, USA), and self-identified soft egg. I use she/her/hers pronouns.

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

I had every intention of participating in the Winter 2020 jam. Shortly after posting to the intro Q&A thread, my mental health (and productivity) took a nosedive amidst working on my Master’s thesis. Now that things are settling down post-graduation, I’m hoping to be more active in this jam...and I really look forward to making something fun with all of you!

This time around, I plan on developing a little interactive toy of some sort. I have a nasty habit of over-complicating my projects, so starting small and limiting my initial scope should hopefully curb that impulse.

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

I enjoy playing cozy, casual games like Animal Crossing the most, but will reach for a cute RPG or platformer every now and then. A couple titles I keep in mind when making my own include “Hamtaro: Ham-Ham Heartbreak” (GBA) and “Tearaway” (PS Vita). The simple minigames and pixel styles you find on Tamagotchi or other digi-pet toys have also been a major influence.

I’ve been inspired by Louie Zong’s musical toys here on itch, particularly dream.piano & guitar friend! His illustrations, animations, and music have this super-relaxing aura to them.

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

I worked with RPGMaker MV and bitsy to release a couple games in the past, and briefly tried out Unity 3D with Blender for a small VR project. 3D modeling is quite out of my depth, so I currently use Unity 2D and Fungus (a Unity plugin) to implement custom assets and develop games. I tend to go solo with jams and make everything myself when it comes to assets...art, sprites, animation, music, the whole kit and caboodle.

Aseprite has been handy for my pixel work, which I highly recommend if you’re looking to streamline your animation/sprite-making pipelines!

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

I journal quite a bit these days, and I really enjoy it! I have a sizable collection of stationery, stickers, acrylic stamps, washi tape, and cute notepads...so checking in with myself via pen-and-paper helps keep the stash manageable.

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

* experiment with UI, interactivity, & sound design

* keep an up-to-date devlog & connect with other jammers

* submit a polished digital toy!

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

Hey! I'm Justin (he/him). I'm, uh, extremely bad at talking about myself?

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

I've never participated in a jam before and honestly always thought it was something "real devs" did, but I was clicking around here and saw this one and decided to take a big swing. I'm terribly intimidated but it's been fun and sort of comforting to read all these introductions and already feel a bit of kinship with other beginners here.

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

Well, I could easily go on waaaaay too long on this one, but I'll try to keep it brief. Legend of Zelda was my favorite series for a long time, but was eventually supplanted by anything BioWare (yes, that includes current BioWare; Andromeda was awesome and no one will convince me otherwise). At this point though I'm usually more excited about indie stuff than anything, and Supergiant is probably my favorite developer. Transistor is absolute perfection, and the ending makes me cry. Recently Celeste has totally blown me away, and yes I know I'm super late to that party.

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

Years ago I found this program for making text adventures called Quest, and that got me rolling with the idea that I could actually make a game of my own, like I'd been dreaming about since I was six. From there I got into Twine, Clickteam Fusion, and a bit of Ren'Py, but I never really finished anything. I suspected for a long time that Unity was where I was headed, but I didn't feel ready for it. Nor did my computer, when I at one point downloaded it and it took ten minutes to start...yikes. A year or so and four times as much RAM later I'm finally getting going with it.

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

Almost anything creative. Music, writing, art, and about a hundred other things. Most of all right now I think probably worldbuilding. I've been working on the fictional world of my dream game for years, with multiple continents, tons of cultures, hundreds of years of history, a dozen different made up languages, two different forms of magic, and so many secrets to slowly reveal. Also at the moment I'm extremely passionate about the Haru Nemuri album Haru To Shura. And my cats.

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

To start to get a handle on Unity by putting a little bit of pressure on myself. I've always done better when there's an element of commitment to a project and a deadline. Of course sometimes I also fall apart for the same reason, so it's a bit of a die roll, lol. I'm also not a super social person naturally and it's good for me to do things with other people once in a while.

Cheers, everyone!

2. I did not participate in the last game jam. I am joining this jam so I can get better at programming. Also might start improving my modeling at this jam because my table looks like two staples stuck together.

3. I like all things equally except sports games. Those are not my taste. Actually, it was a friend that got me to study games and how they work (not from programming but looking at what happens) I then started studying games on Roblox. I made mental notes about what works and what doesn't

4. Yes, I have plenty of experience with Roblox LUA and wanted to learn more about the coding in Unity. I watch a tutorial, see what they do, and replicate it.  I then try to go by memory about what to do. If I don't remember, i go back to the tutorial. Mindset is key :D

6. To make a working game that has cool mechanics and feels good. I am not worried about art. That is something that I can learn another time.

10. multiple themes is something I don't see. I wonder if you can do that?

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

My name is Jmar. I'm a self taught dev from watching youtube videos!

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

This is my first time joining a game jam and I hope this helps me have the skill of finishing games because I have never finished any of my past projects :(

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

I like precision platformers like mario and celeste but also puzzle games at the same time.

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

I started my dev journey using the Unity engine but later on switched to the Godot engine because I figured out that I like dynamic programming languages better!

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

I want to release my first game within this year that I am happy about :)

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

My goal for this jam is to be able to finish my first project.

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

I'm Jon, or JohnnyJones. I am a recent college grad with an engineering degree that I am not sure I really want to use.

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

I haven't finished a game despite multiple attempts. I think I might just need a kick in the pants and some more knowledge to get me over the hump.

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

I like games where mechanics and story work together instead of being separate. Games like Hollow Knight, Rimworld, Dark Souls, FTL, etc.

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

I have some limited experience making games in GameMaker and Godot. Godot is what I'm currently using because it seems to be a good bridge between GameMaker's more limited programming language vs something like Unity or Unreal, which I have found daunting.

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

I llove games with good music. It can make or break an experience. I am somewhat of a musician myself, but I am not a good writer (maybe something I can work on).

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

I want to learn what it takes to actually finish a game and bring everything together.
