Nice little game, I actually liked the last level, the labyrinth. Levels before were kind of easy. I guess the one-bit colors are not a coincidence but part of game mechanics, so that makes it hard to navigate in-game. On the other hand, it's frustrating mechanics. Anyway, good job on the game!

Biggest issue was that all sprites are the same color. Art style is great though!

Concept was fun though. Last level was ultra easy but level before that had me thinking about which path to pick :)

Good work!

I though of the last level more as an ending cutscene so I would consider the maze level the last one, thanks for the feedback

Oh to be honest i kinda insta-finished last level by accident, since ending was next to the start.

So i didn't saw much of it lol.

But maze level was pretty cool ^^

It's a bit hard to see what's where, but if that's the point... ;)

Last puzzle changed the rules a bit. I thought the point was to capture all black pawns, but it was to get to the door.

But the idea is neat. Chess with faster timer and unique skills. Reminds me of games from the past.

Thanks!

Welcome to the chess club buddy! :D

Thanks, there are alot of great chess games in this jam

A neat little idea, one I'm sure could be further developed. I'd echo the comment below in saying that the choices for walls/doors being so similar did make the game difficult to decipher at times, but it's a good effort! Nice job :)

Thanks for playing

The art selection was very good, but I think you should have used different images for the doors and walls, as they were very hard to find/distinguish.

Thanks for rating the game

Neat lil game! I like the sound effects you chose. I had a few times where the collision on the pawns seemed to be offset one space forward. The different tiles are also a little trickly to distinguish - I had the same problem in my chess game and fixed it by making tiles that were just the 'grid' semi-transparent

Thanks for playing the game and leaving feedback. I will remember that for future games, I made the sound effects myself just using a chessboard I had.

There are some good game design ideas here, and I had fun playing. There are some tweaks you could make to improve the game a ton. The biggest issue for me is that the walls are very difficult to visually distinguish from the walkable tiles. Because of the monochrome color scheme, it needs to be a lot more obvious. if the walls inside the stage were more like the ones surrounding it, I'd have a much easier time playing. Still, nice job completing the jam. :)

Thanks for playing the game and for the feedback, I agree that its hard to tell what is a wall especially on the final level but I feel like the game would be too easy without it. I know that's bad game design  but I ran out of time because I spent the first 8 hours on a movement system I had to scrap. Anyway, thanks for playing.

I fixed it

Looks fun, but you need to upload your whole Unity export as a .zip rather than just the .exe, otherwise nobody can play it.

I fixed it

I couldn't see my player for the first couple of levels but after that it sorted itself out and was fun. Nice job.

Developer

Thanks for trying it again once I got it to work, I wish I knew why you had that bug, but honesty the code isn't very well written so it makes since there are some glitches. Anyway thanks for coming back to the game.
