I played the web version and the first song had 0 notes the first time I tried, fixed it when I switched song and back again.
The font on the "perfect" text is not super readable on the rail background.

I like the use of roads as tracks. Pressing up-down on a keyboard is very annoying. I'm not too hot on the mapping, most of them don't seem to match the song too well until impossible and even then not that much. I'm impressed by the general responsiveness and smoothness of the system. Outside of the odd bugs where arrows don't start showing up, it's a very solid game.
Beat the two middle ones on impossible, can't do the first and last ones with this cramped control scheme and a laptop keyboard.
Used to play quite a lot of keyboard (too) StepMania back in the day. My biggest issue here was the up/down mixup and how you punish for mashing on a completely empty space. I wanna do warmup waves at the start of songs to get into the groove! :D
The first and last songs featured a whole lot of double note steps one after another too which I never was too awesome at. I was more into super speedy single note chains. And I wasn't the biggest of fans of your song selection either.
Sometimes (quite often, almost half of the times) when restarting a song the beginning notes didn't appear at all. I don't think this happened when changing songs though, only for straight up restarts.
And then the UI, it wasn't too user friendly. Too many clicks needed to do anything and that's it, clicks! This is keyboard controlled game so needing to use mouse for menuing between tries (which can be very small duration) is annoying. The game also seemed to forget the high scores when changing songs.
Anyways, good job!
Thank you all for your input on the game! The response has been amazing and I appreciate you all trying my game!
I tried to make it difficult because I thought it could lead to replay value as you gain more skill, but it seems I went a bit too far on my zeal.
I apologize that the first and last song aren't working on easy, that was an issue when I exported the project and I forgot to go back and fix it.
I'm excited to see if anyone makes it past impossible and comments here, that looked really tough. The choice of 4 different songs was nice to see and overall it was a fun game.
Nice take on the popular DDR style rhythm game. One thing that REALLY threw me off though is that most DDR games I played put the arrows in (LEFT/DOWN/UP/RIGHT) order, whereas you had yours in (LEFT/UP/DOWN/RIGHT) order. It also felt very difficult / not as responsive as the rhythm games I played. Fun game though.
Wow, I thought the rhythm boss in my game was hard! I had to play on normal difficulty, and I’m assuming it would truly be impossible to try anything harder. I did like the game, great concept, and I enjoyed the devlog (Godot is the best!) Good jam!
Fun game to play to. I don’t know how to sync music and game, so that I liked a lot to see.
In the other hand the easy difficulty of the main song starts very late and I wasn’t paying attention to it so I got busted first attempt.
This is hard! Its funny, because my game ending having a similar rhythm game theme! Well done and very creative!
Only works at normal^^ For peeps who are wondering
Hey great job with the music sync!
I wasn't able to do it on my end so i think that's impressive.
I wish you good luck on your next gamejam. i'm sure you'll learn from this^^
I had no note on the first easy song, so I went to normal. It seems normal for you is ultra hardcore for me x)
Well done though, it works well. My biggest critique would be that the game lacks visibility, the superposition of assets makes it a bit hard to read.
A difficult rhythm game (or maybe it's just me :D)
Some suggestions:
Nice idea, sadly some songs doesn't seem to work and it's very hard!
