How is your game related to the Theme and Special Object?
This is basically an auto tower defense with a twist. The main tower is a tomato plant (special object) defending against snails. The theme was covered (maybe) in that, in nature failure usually means death...and dead things become food for other things...and the cycle repeats. You'll see...I hope! <3

Part 1 click to place puddles to slow snails. Can be placed every 4 seeds from tomato tower.

*spoilers* Part 2 use keyboard UP and DOWN (or W and S)

Firstly Congratulations on your first submitted and completed Game Jam! Speaking from experience, I know its not easy. Half way through making the game, you start to doubt that you can complete it, lose faith in yourself, lose motivation and you think to give up. So well done on not giving up! And keep creating games! Trust me, the first one is always the hardest. My first game I almost gave up on but I forced myself to complete it and it was awful. This is my third game jam now and I can truly say you gain confidence in every jam you do and you learn so much!

I want to do what someone did for me on my first Jam and give you pro's and con's to hopefully steer you towards the next step.

Pro's

  • Creative implementation of the special object
  • I loved the auto tower defense vibe
  • Part 2 honestly made me chuckle, it was a fun little surprise in the end

Con's

  • The Tower Defense was too hard, you got swarmed by snails very quickly, too quickly
  • Audio! You'd be surprised how much further a game can go with audio, it adds so much!

Advice for if you want to continue creating which I really hope you do!

  1. Focus on game balancing
  2. Focus on game polish

Focusing on these 2 things really excelled my games! If you take a look at my first game, to the game I made this Game Jam. I've improved 10 times, just from these two things. They can really make or break a game!

Keep creating, hope to see you in another Jam soon!

Love the fact that there are 2 games in 1!

First congrats on submitting you're first ever game jam!! That was a fun cute little tower defense game with some twist in it. I would like to see more polishing but I can see that you ran out of time. I feel like this game is quite hard as I die after putting 4-5 puddle down and don't know what to do from there.  I tested and found that I live for 9 minute without placing down any puddles, I live 36 second spamming puddles(to make more little plant) and 45 second spamming puddle(purposely avoid making plant). So I guess the strategy is to put down when you're save but I couldn't really find the best timing to put down the pudding.

Anyway congrats on the game man!!

I really liked the feel of the game! I wish there was a bit more of visual/sound feedback when doing actions though!

Congrats for finishing a game for the first time in a while!!  I couldn't tell when I could place puddles, so I wound up spam clicking a lot and hoping one would show up.  Showing in the UI if you can place one would help, also speeding up the pace you can place those would add some interest.  Getting new plants was cool, I didn't make it far enough to tell what they did though.

hehe ty ty!

Yeah. I just completely ran out of time for UI or, you know, proper instructions on playing ;P Basically since I made it I just knew how to count the seeds to know when to place puddles. It's every 4 seeds but yes, there was meant to be a little counter to show how many, if any, puddles could be placed. There was also supposed to be a bucket fill mechanic where you had to wait for a full bucket before you could pour it again...instead of just every 4 seeds.

SO many things but since this was a huge learning project I spent more time learning than doing. Hopefully I can squeeze more into the next one! ;D

Thanks for trying out my silly little project! :D
