Theme is loop, and completing the level by reaching the flag causes the level to loop. The speical object pickaxe is an item in the game that you can unlock.

I broke the loop!
Hint for others: There's a special item on top of the above-ground column which can be reached via an invisible platform. It allows you to keep the coins collected between level loops, buy the (very powerful) pickaxe and reach the true level end
