Amazing concept. With a little polish or explanation around the rules of capturing, this could be something great. Tons of possibilities with the piece movement. Loved doing the diagonal gap that made me feel like I did something I wasn't supposed to do. Good stuff.

I like the presentation, graphics and technical implementation. Gameplaywise it feels like you're sometimes killed out of nowhere, because an enemy rushes you with lightspeed in a straight line.
I also wished you could just hold a key to move instead of tapping it repeatedly, but maybe I'm just missing something here...
I like the idea! It has almost a horror vibe, with the black and red color scheme, dark atmosphere and frequent jump scares as the red pieces pop out of the darkness. Sometimes it was a little confusing why I got sent back to the beginning, as I either couldn't see or was just barely able to see the red piece that captured me before it happened. Maybe having the red pieces move to their positions a little slower would help? Great job!
Thanks a ton for the feedback! The atmosphere is probably my favorite part about this game. As for the surprise captures, I was crunched for time and kind of just ignored the problem of getting sniped across the map by pieces, after the Jams over I'll update it. I already have a version with that working and some other pretty rad changes.
Great concept, I feel like this should be a proper game where you can only kill the enemies by playing it like chess. (I don't actually play chess so maybe it's not possible?)
That's an interesting idea, I plan to keep working on the game and have considered letting the King take the pieces a little. If I do I would need to impliment some way to make the peices protect eachother though so you couldn't just ravage the dungeon. So it would take a good bit of overhaul but it could certainly be interesting.
