I expected there to be an enemy AI, but there only seems to be local multiplayer. Just make it move up and down, then shoot if the y position is roughly the same as the player. The game also starts up in the combat arena, instead of the main menu.
I would also recommend to put the right player's shoot button to something like enter, definitely not shift or ctrl (because if the right player spams the shoot button, sticky keys will activate).
