I think this idea has some potential! The cutscenes are simple but cool, and I never have enough time to make them myself. Perhaps only being able to use a certain amount of cheats at a time could make this game more interesting, so that you don't just turn on all of them. More levels to explore would be nice too. I wish crashing the game would actually throw an error and force you to reload the page, but hey, that's just me. I liked the art and music, they fit very well together. Great job!

Thank you! Glad you liked it :D I’ll definitely revisit this idea soon and take in some of your feedback!

Unique concept and cool little story. Wish there were more levels to fully exploit my powers and see the world burn but the it was an enjoyable short and fun adventure. Would be very interesting to what this concept could be further developed into. Good stuff. Very nice work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you, glad you liked it! Yep, more levels would definitely be more interesting! I'm definitely going to remake this in the future :D

good game 75/100 . enjoyful  game. But typing cheat is kinda pain like misspelling stuff . but all good had a fun

Developer (1 edit)

Hey thanks for the comment! I really agree with you that constantly typing the cheats is sometimes kinda painful. When I one day revisit this, I would definitely improve the experience on how the cheats code feature works! 😁

Kenney is in the gdevelop asset store, so I thought this will be something  low quality. What I didn't expect is you seem to actively restrict yourself to use ONLY Kenney, this results in a cohesive experience that puts my larger project to shame. You have shown a solid understanding of the fundamentals and you should consider gdevelop if you decide to switch.

The story and the gameplay is very nostalgic too. I used to play cheat enabled flash games as a kid, A LOT.

It's a shame the crash cheat didn't do more, I tried it on every level. 10/10

Thank you so much for your comment, really happy that you liked it! There’s definitely so more that I can do with the cheats, and also much more interesting level designs.

I originally wanted to remove the crash cheat because actually crashing the game wouldn’t be fun XD But I’m glad that I managed to at least implemented the little crash scene! Also I think there’s a bug where the enemy in stage 2 wouldn’t spawn when you played the game again the second time in a row, probably should fix this after this jam is over!

I definitely want to remake this game in the future, while keeping the same experience as this one did. I really like the concept of this game, and many have told me that this game holds great potential, I wouldn’t want to make this game longer in length just for the sake of more levels/cheats/mechanics/text scenes, because I think there is a certain charm to a short and sweet little game.

For now I am focusing on some of my other projects, but will 100% revisit this game soon :D

I like the storybook-telling aspect, and having to use the cheats to progress is an interesting mechanic. The cheats inclusion felt natural due to the story - I think a lot of kids would have imagined having this type of ability in one form or another.

It would be interesting to see what other cheats you would have included if there were more levels, and the types of levels that would have been created based on those cheats.

A short game that reminds me of a childhood wish.

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the game! One of the things I wanted is make the gameplay feel natural and not forced, and I’m happy you like it.

I’m thinking of remaking and expanding this game in the future, but recreating the “short and sweet”  feel could be more difficult due the game being longer, got a few ideas, but I really agree with you! definitely a lot more things can be added! Thank you for your awesome comment :D

Really neat concept.  The pacing and cheats make the game into an interactive story, so on theme.

Developer

Thank you! Really appreciate it :)

Cool concept! Would be cool if you could only have one on at a time, make you choose how you want to beat the level - high health OR high damage etc. Nice work though!

Developer

Thanks for the awesome idea! Yea this could totally work, maybe one day I will be remake it with this idea in mind! :D

Really fun game with a cool concept! Being able to "cheat" feels fun especially with the little story that's being said between sections. Only one person in the game and also doing a cute but simple art style also makes it fun!

Developer

Thanks for the comment! The game was originally supposed to be in black and white, but I'm so glad I changed it to a more cute art!

nice, very op cheats. Lots of potential for making a full game out of it

Developer

Thanks you! 😁

Great game, very nostalgic. One tip I could give is perhaps releasing new cheat codes as you progress through the levels? This would motivate the player to keep playing to see what new mechanics will be unlocked.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Good Idea, perhaps I can expand this game in the future and implement this feature :D

Oh I quite like how you made use of both the theme and limitation. I like that you are actually going through the story, and i like that you rely on cheating to go through the stages. Nice one!

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much, really appreciate it! And I like punching people in your game! :D

This was great! I think there's a ton of room to do other cool stuff here, the theme was really well executed and the spelling mistakes in the cheats were very cute. Also, I really liked the way the buttons disappeared during the movement tutorial at the start! Great work.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I really agree with you that more cool stuff can be added, actually thinking of remaking and expanding this in the future. Also really glad you noticed the movement tutorial thing! Cheers!!!

Awesome concept, good looks, clever use of limitation... i've got nothing more to say! for a game made in TWO DAYS it's just godly. You have the talent!

Developer

Thanks Dude! Really appreciate that! I really liked your game too :D

Nice game! It made me feel like back in time, i loved! =D

Developer

Thank you!! Glad you loved it :)

Submitted(+1)

This was a sweet concept, I definitely feel like you could do a lot of cool things if you expanded the mechanic. Well done!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Would definitely love to expand on this mechanic in the future! :D

Pretty cool concept! I liked the story narrator element :)

Developer

Thank you! :D

Great idea. Only thing is maybe a way to track your input. Other than that it's pretty solid.

Developer

Thanks for the suggestion! Having a way to track input would definitely be useful! 😁
