A really beautiful and well polished experience for a jam game.
The art, music sounds and gameplay... it's just perfect!
I see this game high up in the results.

We all thought the game was really cool and fun to play. The story, artwork, and sound effects were all excellent. It's really impressive for a game jam entry! We would definitely play it outside of the jam, as we enjoyed it a lot. One improvement we would suggest is the controls, because it's a bit confusing to move diagonally without having to press two keys at the same time. However, once you get used to it, it only gets better!

Thank you for your review! We are happy that you liked the story and got used to controls :D We are thinking about improving the game controls after the jam, maybe adding more content and releasing it as a full demo somewhere in the appstore or steam. We’ll see ;)

Wonderful game!

Loved the attention to detail like the time sfx changing pitch.
The levels design was also really good!

A few thoughts:

  • The controls are a bit floaty, especially if you're not snapping to the grid it was very frustrating to fall off because of the 'slide'
  • It was pretty frustrating to have to restart the whole level. The shrines that reset the timer could be used as checkpoints?

Thank you for trying out the game and for the feedback!

Glad that you liked the game!

Incredibly gorgeous game, congrats to the artist, love the character design, when I realized the hair pin was the moon and not horns (maybe both) my jaw dropped.

I want to make this comment as helpful as possible so here are my main takeaways.

Please, I beg you, DO NOT get discouraged from people complaining about the controls, it's called an isometric view, I could tell many didn't know this, yes, it's normally used for grid-based movement, but I completely support your decision to make it real-time, think outside the box and make it work, good job doing this.

About Art, music and ambience, literally perfect, so all I have is personal opinions, on music, (mainly the first impression) I got the feeling of "eeriness" and basing myself on the character and world design, I would have gone for a different approach, something more "wondrous", (Less "GRIS", more "Journey" if you know the games).

Hope you like long comments!

Developer(+1)

The hair pin is a moon indeed, but this design was made horns-like this on purpouse ;) We are super happy that you noticed this detail!

About controls: yes, I see what you mean and we still considering what to do with those controls after that much of feedback lol. This made to production because we as a developers mastered those controls duting the development and it felt pretty fun to us. However, We are thinking about reducing or cutting off the inertia and maybe scaling collider a little bit so character would not fall of the edges so much. We will totally try this with grid based controls, see how it plays.

On music it could have been done in a million ways, but we enjoyed beats our sound designer proposed and didnt’ bother to iterate it that much. But yeah, this game would definitely be enjoyable with acoustic instruments like in Journey. We only had 3 days and a lot of work to do, so we didn’t have a lot of room for experiments or polising ;)

Thank you for your meaningful feedback, it’s really good to see people analysing the game and sharing their feelings and opinions like that.

Pretty moth game.

Really good game art and sounds, I was impressed with the environment. The controls I didn't quite got the hang of it and it led to me falling a lot lol, it was fun playing! Great job!

Thank you! Glad you liked it

The visuals and sound were absolutely top notch, created a very relaxing vibe with charming characters

Developer

Thank you!

The controls are a bit weird with the perspective you guys used, but other than that it's a pretty wonderfull game! The visuals are top notch and, with the exception of the web version, has pretty responsive controls.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for taking a look on ther game! Yea, standalone version is definitely more stable and faster than WebGl

One of the most beautiful games I have ever played in a game jam. This person is ready to go work for Supergiant games. 10/10.

The controls are bad and you should feel bad though. I talk in my review about a grid step that might would help, but man was I frustrated.

Thank you for a review! We’ll definitely improve controls and physics in future versions.

Very good looking game, but the floaty movement makes it very difficult, and even dropping down a layer can cause you to get stuck. Would be very fun with more focus on puzzles and less fighting the movement control.

the artstyle is just gourgeous, there is no way for you to not to win this competition! I wounder how long have you been sleeping during this jam)

Developer(+1)

Thank you for trying out the game! Personally I was sleeping 4-5 hrs, just enough to stay alive lol

This game is really beautiful. The sound design also complemented the whole feel of the game; an excellent presentation, for sure.

I also liked that the game looks like a classic puzzler, but adds an element of precision movement with the tight time limits. Though the controls, as someone else mentioned below, felt a bit slippy. Having it be more tight would make this feel more responsive and fair. (The isometric controls were fine for me.) Also, I was told there is controller support by someone else who played this, but (at least with my controller), only left and right seemed to confer input; up and down did nothing. Maybe a missing link between the controller axis and the movement?

And, as a side note (since this is a jam and there's only so much that can be done), I'd have liked to see some more puzzle type problems, given that it's presenter as a puzzler. There was a bit of puzzling in that you had to wait for the right time to start crossing the moonbeams, but some more thinky stuff (as opposed to timing stuff) might have been cool? E.g. moonbeams that can only be crossed once, so you need to make sure you're taking the paths in the correct order, etc.

Thank you for taking time to try our game and for such great review! As for controller support, I’ve tried my DualSense, works well with D-Pad and left stcik. Not sure about other controllers tho. Also I didn’t test controller support in WebGL. Will take a look on this issue after the jam :) You wouldn’t beleive, but we had some plans and levels designed on paper for disapperaing blocks, but we decided to cut off this mechanic bc we wouldn’t make it on time. We want to add more levels after the jam some time and maybe this mechanic too!

Submitted(+1)

Really cool game, loved the story, only improvement I think would be making the character less slippery, feels really difficult to move on just one block roads.

Developer

Thnak you for the review! Good catch, maybe we’ll consider reducing character inertia in update after the jam :)
