In this game you MUST die and respawn to go to the next level. So, at least, some sort of failure is inevitable

amazing for a first jam and real unity project, this is mostly good
only real issues i had were the mushroom corpses being extremely easy to push and the circle colliders, great job
Great work, really liked the blood splatter masking effect used!
quiet a simple game, but just having only a handful of colours, was great.
Only a few minor things i would have liked:
- i feel like you used a circle collider for the character, so i ended up rolling off on the edge.
- I would have liked more weight to my corpse. as i was trying to jump on them, but then they get pushed away.
- Variation in blood splatter with various different sounds would have made it a tad more juicy :)
All in all. Good work!
I like the idea of corpse of different quality.
Really well made, a little short in my opinion but it's alright, I would suggest not explaining what the powers do just by text, but it's absolutely fine for a jam game.
Great execution, creative spin on the classic mechanics, well done!
Really awesome entry! A pretty straight forward puzzle platformer but I think the power ups added a bit of depth. I do wish there was a few more levels however to really play with it.
Something that stood out to me was how you would sometimes want to skip a power up until the path to where to die with it was opened up. That is a really interesting realization that could lead to sick puzzles, and would have been nice to see expanded on more.
and hot damn that death blood is really awesome! Its adds alot to the visuals imo, other wise I would have complained the game was a bit too 1 tone. The Bright red really sprinkles in good contrast as it stands out super well!
My biggest issue I have tho, and this is for alot of jam games tbh, I didn't feel any coyote time. Which is when you walk off a edge, if the player presses jump late there is a window in which is still counts. Its a key feature for platformer feel imo.
Side note, X doesnt work for me dying it seems. R does tho so no biggy.
Seriously great work all around! All critisism is with the invisible foot note of: But considering the time limit these might not have been top priority
Thanks for your reply! I'm sorry the game is short. This is all I have been able to achieve in the given time.
I'd have liked to make other levels using that mechanic but this is basically my first game jam and first serious game in general so even make a Player Controller is a challenge for me! ahaha
You didn't feel coyote time because there wasn't at all, sadly! Before all the comments I didn't even know what "coyote time" was, but I'll put it in every platformer I make from now! Thank you for your advices.
On that side note, the "X button" is referred to Gamepad inputs. I should have been more clear, sorry.
Thank you for playing and rating my game!
Really cool game! Loved the concept and the puzzles. Definitely engaging. I have 2 minor critiques which are:
- Adding some coyote time would make the jumping feel a bit better
- I did not like how I had to restart the whole level if I ran out of corpses, I would have liked to be able to "reclaim" the last corpse so if I flubbed a jump I didn't have to redo the setup
Very minor critiques, but otherwise I liked this game a lot! Excellent entry!
Edit: I also just saw that this is your first game jam and first serious game in Unity. You should be proud, you did an excellent job!
Very well thought, also in terms of limitation/ theme! I really enjoyed it, especially when they were added the abilities you could pick up (love the bouncy one ;)).
Keep it up!
Hey, nice spin on the "use your dead body to progress" mechanic! It is indeed a very solid first jam game. Good job!
it was interesting, love the 2 mechanics and the blood effect, good small concept , congrats!
Awesome job releasing such a polished game in your first jam! Everything works really well together! I love how much personality you managed to fit in to a simple little square character!
The concept is cool and the two modifiers you gave are also some really good ideas, that's a shame that you couldn't make other levels with that
A lot of fun - really solid little platformer with way more gore than I was expecting! Love how brutal the deaths are!
I really liked the introduction of the corpse modifiers, they're a really unique idea that works perfectly with your main mechanic.
As others have said, the music is great :)
I really enjoyed it. A little basic concept but well executed. I didnt like the jump height though, felt too weak.
That was a really nice interpretation of the theme, bravo!!, I enjoyed it a lot and I think the level design was really good, great job and big congratz on finishing your first game jam with a really good submission.
Best of luck, drop by and rate my game if you get the time.
Limitation so well used. It was very fun to play. I loved the concept !
Hey, cool game! I liked the idea of having limited lives to clear the level - it helps you stand out from the crowd of kill-yourself-to-progress-platformers (I haven't seen another one with that idea yet.) I felt the controls could have been a little tighter (e.g. coyote time, or taking a tiny bit of time to accelerate/decelerate. Maybe also could use arrow keys for movement so it's more natural to use both hands?) But overall a good game, all the more impressive for this being your first jam - good job!
Wow cool mechanics! Nice gameplay and bgm xD
The effect of blood really scared me at the first time!!!
