Like what others said, amazing ASCII art! I like that ghosts, robot and aliens all exist in your world (or a ghost alien robot!).

The opening paragraph does a great job setting the tone and the ASCII art looks amazing!

"Five billion years, you've got, and that's it" he said in a drunken slur. "After that, I don't care a fig what you do. Stick fire up your nose, burn down the forests. I don't care." ~ a rant on a different Earth by Ford Prefect of the Hitchhiker's Guide fame.

That ascii art is ridiculous. Like, good-ridiculous, but Planet Express ship is only in the year 3000. Also, ugh, my science fiction nerd-self is wanting to know if some outside force is affecting the Sun's age so that the Red expansion occurs five billion years ahead of schedule or remnants of the human race actually stay near Sol for five billion years. Which is it? Never mind me, it's not actually important. Yes, it is! No, no, just keep on.

I love the setting. This will make a great mod for any full system out there, but the system you created is, to be kind, workable. It looks like there's more there than you could add, but I'm telling you, the setting you created is classic sci-fi and I love it.

Thanks for the comments!

I agree, It's definitely not a full system. I think it's playable for people who already have a good understanding of rpgs and can fill in the gaps.

I wrote it really fast, In a few hours while also trying to keep a toddler occupied.  I just wanted to make myself write something at least and this was a good excuse.

I grabbed the ship art from a repository of ascii art.

I've started fleshing it out more if you're interested

Updated Version.

A-haha! So much tongue in cheek in the update. You're a typesetter in your day job, aren't'cha? I like the different retro future sci-fi elements added in for story flavor. Reminds me of the Space Command RPG someone gave me for a birthday a few years back. I cannot remember the exact name nor can I find it in a quick search. Red and white hardback. Silly fun.

Found it!

I love the layout of your updated version! Slightly off topic, what software did you use? Did you use Microsoft Office or some specialist software?

The mechanics really don't fit in 200wds, which is a shame because I like the premise. I just think that it really can't be said to be worth it to use so many precious words on light vs. heavy weapons instead directions for play.

This looks good NateTreme!
