Small game with some metroid-vania esque features. Unfinished! Had fun though :-)

I really like the backdash, and how you can jump out of it to get a boost.

Also the tileset looks interesting.

I think the slime enemy is interesting how it dodges attacks by shrinking into the ground, but I would have preferred it as a elite enemy instead of a mob enemy.

Here's a recording of my first attempt 49:49 , I also tried it a second time and killed the slime boss in the dungeon.

An outstanding submission! The visuals reminiscent of Sonic's environment were a treat, and the combat mechanics added to the fun. Excellent work!

I liked the backdash mechanic. Especially the fact that you can combine other keys with it. Nicely implemented. Well done <3

Very nice art, and the writing is right up my alley. Also, I love the back dash, feels like an original (at least to my, admittedly limited knowledge) twist on a common mechanic that had more of an affect on how I played than I originally thought it would. It could obviously use some sounds and polish, but I think you have the makings of a super cool mechanic there!

Not sure if this was an issue on my end (I do everything from an almost six year old Chromebook that's more of a tablet than a laptop, so I tend to assume everything is an issue on my end), but the game seemed very slow. I didn't let it really affect my rating, just in case it's on my end, but I thought I'd let you know just in case it's something you want to look into if you're going to expand.

Overall, however, this is pretty awesome! Great work!

Very nice visual style :D I feel like speeding up actions like player movement and attacking would really improve the experience. Great job so far, though!
