Nice entry! I found the idea of making the robot from the SpaceX rocket sentient and the protagonist very funny. I also think this is a very tight and well defined metroidvania. It fits the prompt very well. I found the overall movement pretty solid, the upgrades were interesting and satisfying, the minimap was helpful, and the bosses had some cool movesets. I had an issue where I died during a bossfight and then the boss didn't respawn when I did, so I had to stop there. I think some checkpoints would be nice and helpful. I also think rebindable controls would be good, since I wasn't a huge fan of shift being shoot as well as left click, then ctrl being dash, so I personally would have swapped ctrl and shift. Overall great work!

Interesting! The difficulty of the game is simple but not boring. I don't know if there are new respawn points in this game. Every time I die, I have to go back to the starting point. But it's no big deal, because after getting familiar with the controls, it's not so easy to get hurt. In any case, the overall gameplay experience is great!~( ̄▽ ̄)~*
This game exudes a polished vibe. From the spot-on character controls to the captivating visual effects, everything felt well-executed. The combat system was particularly engaging, reminiscent of classic Mega Man titles. Outstanding work!
I really like the upgrades and how they are unlocked and spread out over the level! Here's a recording of when I tried it at the time stamp 43:37
One of the best game , I played in this game jam . Everything is on point . Minimap and power ups are great.
Super good game. I can say about this entry the best thing I can say about any game: it was just good fun. I liked that it had that satisfying thing pretty unique to Metroidvanias where you pass something just knowing you'll be back to it later with a new way of doing things. Makes you feel so good as a player.
I see you have some big plans for this, so I'm looking forward to seeing what you end up with! Good work!
Thanks for the feedback, this is gold!
For the keyboard controls, playing in a browser window brings up some unique constraints. I'm thinking a good layout that will not only work for right and left-handed players but also work in a browser window could be spacebar, J and K for jump, fire, and dash respectively. I talked to an experienced keyboard gamer in person and he that's the best option but would be better to implement a customized controls screen. Probably change the defaults for now and add the extra screen later.
The shield powerup was intended to be an actual force field shield thing that could block 100% of attack for a second then have a cooldown time. I had made perfect activate/deactivate SFX for it but the animated sprite wasn't working out how I wanted it and eventually, it had to be cut for time and was coded as a 50% defense bonus.
Other upcoming changes are: more useable charged weapon attack, save slots and checkpoints, shield powerup implemented as intended, more level hazards(one such hazard is a high voltage discharge thing that must be turned off with a switch elsewhere). For a full final actual release version I would also like to fill it out to 10 total levels/biomes with integrated story beats and maybe a few cutscenes where appropriate.
Good things coming!
Feels very Super Metroid. I didn't like that I couldn't move while charging a strong shot, but I think that was because the browser was eating the inputs (ctrl-a, ctrl-d)
I liked it, it was really fun!
I also think it fits well as a metroidvania, and another detail I liked is that it has a minimap, it helped me find my way around the game
Things that I believe need some improvements: The sound effect of the shot seems a little loud, the Shift key to shoot is not very comfortable as it calls up a window popup and the shield is not very clear as to how it works
Congratulations on the game, it was cool :)
Fits the criteria of metroidvania genre well. Intersting backtracking for aquiring player abilitiy. Enjoy the fight with bosses, cool realisation of mechanics - dash movement for evading boss attacks is satisfying.
