Your team obviously put a lot of love into this project, and it shows. The atmosphere, music and visuals are great!
I found the differing pixel sizes of various elements a bit distracting, it ruins the immersion a bit.
It was exciting to see a game with a real story going on, most of these jam games let the story fall a bit.
At some point my attack stopped working, and resetting the keybind wasn't working for some reason. I then reloaded the game and accidentally clicked the new game button. The button to not reset the game doesn't work there!
Very interesting entry. I loved the way it looks, character and enemy design were really good, environment designs were also very nice, and the music was excellent too.
I really liked having to stomp enemies as an attack, and then when you unlock the dash, dashing into enemies and then tumbling upwards felt super good. But there were issues in enemies just mostly doing nothing (it didn't seem that any of them dealt damage or attacked me at all, except the turret whose laser hitbox was weird). And wall jump worked half the time, and didn't felt that good to use.
I managed to get to the final boss (I think(?)), but I couldn't defeat it becuase it couldn't die or something.
Overall, I think it has a lot of potential! Mostly lacking some polish in some parts
Thanks for playing and for the detailed response. I am sorry that you were afflicted by the biggest bugs, we scrambled to fix them but ultimately did not have time, and ughh that boss bug... we thought that was squashed.... We'll def take your critiques to our next projects if we don't return to this one. Glad you liked the music!
I really enjoyed this game. It gave me a Hollow Knight feel at times. I am so glad you made it easy to change the controller setup. I will continue and try to beat this game. Great job, Can't wait to see your future work.
Thank you so much for playing and for the compliments! HK was def an influence, but I hope we didnt toe the line too much!
Neat stuff! I made it fairly far in, though I got a bit stumped where to go next after getting the walljump & the ranged attack. Really enjoyed the atmosphere, and you had a lot of cool art -- and the levels were pretty fun to navigate too!
Thank you for playing and for the compliments! Our art team really came in clutch towards the end with the details and lighting effects
Woah, this game started in a resolution waay higher than my screen. Very weird, but I could make it smaller with the nice options menu! Eh, but then the game actually still played in that higher resolution... Fullscreen worked!
Very ambitious project, must have been an interesting experience with such a large team!
It felt like some of the assets had a very different style from others, like different pixel sizes and stuff. But in our entry, we used different palettes too, and we were only two guys, haha. So I understand that it must be very hard to align in such a large team!
Nice music, cool with some distorted guitars in a place. Very nice feel to the character.
There could probably have been some more effort put into balancing the game, and making the bosses actually do something. I didn't play the whole game, I got stuck in a weird pit in a yellowish part of the world somewhere to the left. Could not double jump out of it. But up til that point, the bosses didn't do anything.
If you continue working on it after the jam this could become a great game!
Thank you so much for the detailed critique! We definitely did not have time to test all the features enough, ahh such is the way of game jams sometimes. If we continue we will for sure take your notes into account, or at least take them with us to future projects. Glad you liked the music, cheers!
Nicely done. Lovely art and animation. Great colors and detailed backgrounds. Lively music that doesn't get too repetitive. Good implementation of progressive increase in traversal abilities.
I could not quite get used to the wall-jumping mechanic (note, it never was one of my favorites). Also, the large enemies *looked* intimidating, but in practice were really not very aggressive. Lastly, pixel art doesn't really scale the same way that vector art or 3D objects do. So for some of the larger enemies, the difference in resolution can look a bit jarring.
Thanks for playing and for the complements!
We have taken notes of your critiques, thank you for the feedback. Enemy AI def needs work and I agree the wall jump could be tweaked to be more consistent. The art scaling was due to time restraints, but that's great feedback nonetheless.
pretty awesome and the most metroidvania i played so far
Thank you so much!
game looks amazing! unfortunately there is no linux/web version and I have no possibility to try it out :<
I am sorry, we have no way to test a Linux build atm and we could not get webGL running in time before the submission was closed. Appreciate the interest though, cheers!
The presentation is top notch, including the visuals, music, and sounds. The game was pretty fun to play overall. There were some rough edges with the map, some enemy behaviors, and the controls. For some reason, the wall grab/wall jump only seemed to do what I wanted about a third of the time. Still, there's an impressive amount of content/variety here which I can appreciate. Overall, nice work!
Thank you so much for playing! notes taken regarding the bugs!
Great game! The graphics are really cool and the controls feel good. Good work on explaining to the player what is going on and which abilities you have. Unfortunately I got stuck in a wall here:
Had a good time until that though!
Thank you for playing and for the compliments! It looks like you tried to share a screenshot of your bug but it didnt post, want to send it over discord if you still have it? JSM#3505
