I like the look and feel of it, it takes me back to E.V.O a lot with the devour mechanic

Slow start on this game, felt slow controls. But was hoping for upgrades to speed me up later in the game. But got a little confused wandering around the large map at the beginning of the game. Would have liked a smaller area to explore at the start, or a map to help to know where i was going, had been.
However, once I got past the start I really enjoyed the devouring mechanic and enjoyed what I played. I managed to get Spit but died getting to the save point just after that which made me (not quite so ragey) but rage quit.
Overall, enjoyed what I played, loved the tilemap and the devouring mechanic :) Good work!
Nice presentation, big fan of devour mechanic, I like how it is in favor of the player with generous healing every time you eat something! I found levels to be extremely confusing, this type of game needs either a minimap or some visual landmarks, even if it's just rocks or plants or something, to help player distinguish old areas from new ones. I liked it!
The main idea is interesting and generally art style and mechanics kind of invoked in me memories of Spore and Rain World, which is a great thing. I really enjoyed the world and levels, as well as the enemy designs.
A couple issues though, it is incredibly easy to get lost in the world. At some points I wasn't sure where I was going or was supposed to go. Also there seems to be a bug with devouring enemies, as by spamming it on one body, you can get healed basically to full health. Other than that, the movement felt a bit basic, and with that some jumps felt really tight and hard to make, but I still enjoyed the platforming.
All in all a pretty cool entry!
What I liked:
-Cool and fun game in general
-The art is great, the world and the enemies, creates a cool environment
-The music and SFX are good (the music is a little low)
-Good use of the metroidvania theme
-The concept of devour is pretty clever
What I didn't like:
-There was one bug that made me go through the floor and couldn't do anything but reload, losing all the progress
This one is pretty neat, I love how much creativity is in it. The fact all the upgrades, including the basic stat-ups are all enemies you have to kill and eat is a really nice touch and I really like this food chain theming the game has. I also really like most of the monster designs, really well done here!
The gameplay and moveset feels kinda basic, but they still feel good to play regardless, and I like how you made the spit both as a combat option and a substitute for the usual double jump.
The map is a little confusing tho, I got lost pretty easily at first, but once you learn it it does get pretty manageable anyway.
I do have some nitpicks tho. First of all, the cooldown on the abilities feels a little too long, specially the dash one, wich made me fall off some pits in a mildly annoying way tbh. I also really need to mention that pretty much every single enemy and boss has 0 telegraphing moves, so it's basically impossible to avoid taking damage from them, wich felt super cheap during all of the game. (Literally, the final boss is the only enemy that has a good enought telegraphed move, and it's still only a single move anyway, the one where he makes a barrier)
I also need to mention I no-clipped into the ground once and soft-locked, so I was forced to reset. Luckily I hadn't progressed a lot when that happened and I also realized the actual mandatory path was relativelly short, so I still decided to push throught to the end, but I can't assure you wheter or not I would otherwise.
For me it happened right between the room of the bull Boss and the Save nest before it. I did a quick "enter room and go back immediatelly" because I wanted to record the boss (for no particular reason, really, I just like doing that) there and then I clipped.
Since a lot of other people seemed to report clipping into the Backrooms too I assume this can happen anytime you swap rooms too fast tho, but that I can't say for sure.
I like this game. You did a really good job. Most times the music and sounds get too repetitive for me, but this felt just right.
Great work! This game felt super cohesive and polished, especially for a gamejam game. You had a lot of interesting enemy AI (great boss fights!), lots of very nice sprite work, and solid level design.
This was a good entry. Responsive controls. Cute graphics, including the environments (which were simple but serviceable).
The mechanic of eating your enemies is very fun, and gives the player a reason not to avoid combat.
Although the music was pleasant, I would say it did not entirely convey the spirit of predation.
Also, I would recommend that the enemies react a little more when struck. Maybe jump back slightly, or at least freeze for a fraction of a second.
