my game is better

I'm with @Firespike33 on this one - the concept is really cool, super creative and "unconventional" (Even though I found the use of that word in the introduction text a bit too "on the nose" haha). But the difficulty curve is quite steep.

I didn't really get why coins kill you, and so it took me some time to figure out why I kept dying in the beginning :D

Also I liked the music but the sound effects (especially the text in the beginning) were a bit too loud for my test

Overall - great job!

I think this is the single most creative and theme-appropriate entry in the contest. Some checkpoints would've been really nice, though; replaying the level wears thin pretty quickly considering the intentionally clunky controls and some of the more left-field additions. The police officer in particular would've been far easier to figure out on your first attempt if they started shooting before you were in range, and the part after the moving platform with the two coins you needed to jump over was quite a difficulty spike.

Any game that derives its difficulty from the clunky/indirect nature of its controls has to be exceptionally careful to avoid becoming frustrating, and unfortunately this crosses that line for me. I did have fun with it though, especially in the beginning when learning about stuff like picking up spikes as ammo.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback. I'll try making easier games next time...

That part of the 2 coins, I was going to put 3. xD I thought that 2 would be very easy.

Pretty fun game, the controls felt fun if not a little difficult at times (quite hard to jump left for instance since the buttons were far away). I think it was possible to kill the humans? I don't know, I couldn't really tell what the bottom button was for but after reading comments I think it was for that, maybe a tutorial of a "how to play" page would have helped. Good entry!

Developer

Thank you!

Well, actually you can shoot spikes. You can collect them, the coins kill you instead. If you played a little more you would have figured it out. It was to be a surprise, that's why I didn't explain it.

Submitted(+1)

Very fun game that stops just before being frustrating. Is it possible to jump and move left? The buttons were too far apart to jump up any obstacles to the left.

Developer

Thank you!

Yes, it's possible! The clones can help to press 2 buttons at the same time.

Mind Controller Ups and Downs

Ups:

  • Graphics are really nice
  • Concept is pretty unconventional and unique
  • Control scheme is pretty well though-out for the concept

Downs:

  • Timing a moving platform with the control scheme was incredibly frustrating

Overall, a pretty unique and creative game!

Well done! Really original, I also found some spots where I couldn't restart its still great!

Developer

Thank you!

I didn't know there are spots that it's not possible to restart, where is it?

Submitted (2 edits) (+1)

Wait, I think there was a way out because it was layered but I couldn't get out it. I guess i'm just bad lol, I will say it would be convenient if there was a restart button. (Edit: found the restart button)

Developer

Ah, I thought you were saying that there's somewhere the restart button doesn't work xD

It's ok then.

This is one really cool game! Really hard but once you get how the controls work it's super fun. And nailed it when it comes to unconventional!

Submitted(+1)

The spikes and coins switching roles really surprised me!

Developer(+1)

That was my intention. Good to know it worked! =]

This game is really good! All of it results in histerically funny characters, i laught every time i pick a coin, since its "Yay, the parasite is gone!" which is me, also every time i touch humans is like "Yay, the moron is gone!" which really had no sense in terms of plot, but it was good for the game, and also hysterical.

But it really needs checkpoints. Im not gonna end it until that

Thank you!

I thought of putting a checkpoint in the game, but it's complicated since the goal is to kill everyone. If you left someone behind, you would need to go backwards from the checkpoint.

So interested of that, I made a short level. It may look big for the number of people, but most of them are all in the ending part.

Submitted(+1)

Oh, yhea, that sounds as a difficult implementation for a jam, but the game really screams for it

Developer

Maybe I should have done more and smaller levels...

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

You know? i think some game i saw solved this by putting teleporters in every checkpoint, so you could do that without much effort.

And the enemies that you killed should be in a list that doesnt get erased, that should be in many tutorials

Developer(+1)

That's a good idea!

Very creative game! Fits well to the theme, and fun to play! well done!

Developer

Very thanks!

Unusual experience - robot in human head. Also clone mechanic and the controls system is something new (to me) and i've never saw something like this. GJ!

Developer(+1)

Actually those mechanics are not new. The controls system is inspired on "press ctrl" and  the clones mechanic is inspired on "Tamashii".

Submitted(+1)

Very original idea for the controls but a bit tricky for the first time playing.

nice game.

I really like the concept for this game! The visuals and sounds are great too! Also, I really like how other aspects of the game are unconventional too. I think it is pretty difficult (honestly, not really sure how far I can get in the game, I think I'm stuck at a pretty early point lol), but it definitely could just be me. Maybe it could benefit from a health system, but difficulty can be pretty subjective so I'm not sure what's best. Still, great job overall!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Yes, this game is very tricky, you have to play very carefully. It's really made to be a difficult game, but it's short, so with some tries, I think anyone can beat.

Submitted(+1)

Awesome idea and execution! As others have said, the clone is a great feature that and adds depth to the player's moveset.

Submitted(+1)

This was a lot of fun.  I already thought that using the buttons to control the human was a fun idea, but it became even better when I figured out you can create a clone of yourself to hit multiple buttons. Nice Work.

Developer

Very thanks!

Submitted(+1)

Super unconventional!! loved it!!! :D  Really fun idea and well implemented -great idea letting you clone yourself for button combos!  Excellent work! :D

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Initially I was thinking to use a box to move around and press the buttons, but those clones was definitely a better idea!

Submitted(+1)

It's pretty difficult, but that's not a bad thing. Definitely one of the most interesting concepts of the game jam!

Developer

Thank you! Just when I heard the theme, I had that idea, and said "this will be it!"

Submitted(+1)

The music is a little bit grating (had my headphones all the way up) but it's a neat game.

Developer

Thank you!

I had some personal problems during the development. That Reflected a bit in the music, I had a creative block :(
