How does your game fit the Magical Girl Genre?
The player and all other characters are girls with magical powers using danmaku against each other. Yugari, our main character, uses her magical firepower (pun intended) to get what she wants. She'll shoot first and deal with the ashes later.

Which theme(s) do you pick?
Theme 1: "Making the mother of all omelettes"

How does your game fit those theme(s)?
Yugari is preparing the greatest, bestest, summoning ritual ever. She just needs a few components to finish it off. And well, if she needs to 'borrow' them from her friends, you can't make an omelet without breaking a few eggs after all.

Were the assets for your game made during the jam? Elaborate as you see fit.
All assets are made, except three royalty free songs. Credits are included in-game credits page.

Darn so this is what it is like to play Touhou without the focus button...

Art is good, music is good; the lack of SFX tho prevents me from giving full score on audio. Difficulty is definitely too high when you are not giving continues. Game over on boss 3 first try. Overall though this is rad.

Thanks for participating!

Developer

Ehh... you can focus by pressing X lol, cant do shift because the game is made in scratch. Plus, there are SFX and the difficulty is really low. Thanks though :)

OHHH HAHAHA I missed it. Will try again tomorrow XP

Definitely a fun game! really challenging.

A simple bullet hell game. with a nice and simple art
I really love the music!

Though going way back to the start on game over is pretty punishing.

I played on maniac mode and died on the stage 3,

maybe i'll finish it when I have time.

Developer

Thanks for playing my game! And of course you go back to the start on game over, its a proper arcade game. >:)

Im still happy you took the time to get to stage 3 on maniac, even i cant beat it yet :)

Good luck on completing it and thanks again for playing!

Game was pretty challenging but probably because I don't play games in the genre all that often lol (It got a lot easier when I realized I could move in all four directions . Aesthetics were great and I loved your character designs!

Developer

Thank you so much! It means a lot to me :)

How did I not play this earlier? (Well I know the reason, it was because there is no browser playable version) I've played many a shmup made for game jams, and every time I have had lots to complain about. Not this time.

I don't know how you did it, but this is a proper bullet hell game. The hitboxes are good. Basic movement is good. Bullets stand out clearly against the background, as do the bosses. Your own shot pattern leaves room for high level play. Bullet patterns are made with care. There are 3 bosses in total, each with a standard amount of patterns, and each boss fits a theme. Again, the patterns are good.

Firing it up on maniac mode, you can tell this is actually a proper maniac mode. If I'd have to start with only 3 lives, I'd have trouble but I'd be motivated enough to learn the patterns, dodge the bullets, stream the streams, and beat maniac mode on one credit. As any well made shmup should motivate you to. Right now I got a game over to the final boss, but I will be back and hopefully clear it after rating more games. This is a good shmup. The story isn't the most impressive, but it's clear where the focus went.

For how polished this game is you deserve all the praise. the aesthetics are also incredibly good. If you win first place, you will have deserved it!

Thanks for playing my game! Im very proud of it myself and im super duper glad people are enjoying it, even though its pretty though. I didn't expect anyone to see the game from a more involved side, with the speedkilling and patterns!

I know i gave the player a lot of health, and i kinda wish i would've had time to add an option to change the starting health, but this way its more beginner friendly anyway. Thanks a lot for playing my game and actually putting time in it, it means a lot. :)

Also P.S. your game is great too ^.^

> Proper Bullet Hell

Where LShift T=T

But yea I agree overall this is a good game.

nice little bullet hell. Would be nice if there was a bit extra besides dodging.

Developer

There's the scoring, but i dunno if you are into that

This was a challenging game! I think the bosses had a nice difficulty curve overall for me, but I think the curves of their individual phases might have been a little rougher - on the final fight I took a lot more damage early on than I did later in the fight (although maybe I was just performing well under pressure). The patterns felt like they had a nice flow, and it was pretty clear how I was supposed to navigate them, if not on the first try, then on the first two or three rotations.

I'm not super familiar with the genre, so I think it might be helpful to have a mini-crash course for people like me. By chance I was aware of the star representing the hitbox, but I thought the focus button was going to make my bullet spread tighter rather than make me move slower. I also didn't think to hold it down since I just pressed it to play the game.

There also might have been a bit of a bug? I got stuck on a screen that said BONUS when I tried turning off the music after I beat the game. Which is to say I was just testing things out, not that I didn't like the music - I thought the music was very fitting and really enjoyed listening to it.

Developer

Hmm. I'll look into it! Thanks for reporting and for the kind words! I hope you had fun! And yep dodging gets easier if you hold down slow, so you dont go insanely fast. :)

Your game was fun. I like intricate bullet patterns. It was challenging, but I was able to beat first couple of bosses.

I played on a keyboard and character shifts to much on a single button press. Some times this distance is more than a distance between projectiles. It makes hard to maneuver with high precision.

Art style looks good

You've made a good game!

By the way, thanks for linux version

Developer

Thanks for playing my game! The fact that you move so fast is because you are not pressing the x button, it makes dodging easier. I hope you still had fun!
