Mega man + Berzerk two games I like. Great game feel and action. 1 small thing is the placement of some enemies near the entrance, it got me in the habit of walking into an room and walking out as soon as possible in case there was one near by. But small issue not enough to affect my score. Well done.
I think this is my favorite entry so far! The lasso mechanic and secret enemies really helped keeping the gameplay fresh, and the aesthetic is unique and cool. Love the music!
I also liked the map design and overall retro feel to the game. It does a really good job at playing like a retro game.
Some of the rooms (especially with the rocket enemy) felt a little cheap and you just get hit immediately after entering the door. I'm not sure if it's intentional, but I guess it does make it feel more true to its retro style.
It's difficult to shoot diagonally while standing still since the movement affects your aim and there's no way to strafe while shooting or anything like that.
Also, I'm not sure if the triple shots have much of an impact on the gameplay. The player is slow enough that I found it very unlikely for me to get hit by any of the outer bullets, and when I get to use the triple shot myself, there's only 1 enemy per room so I'm really just using the middle bullet. All the other projectile types were really fun, though!
I really appreciate the feedback! The music is by the super talented Angel Cintado. :)
I agree with all of your points. The rocket enemy was originally too slow to react once a player entered a room, but I accidentally made it too brutal after tweaking it – my bad! This will definitely be patched once the jam is over.
I feel you on the diagonal aiming. At first, the player stopped momentarily when firing, but it slowed the pace too much. I added the triple shot as a compromise for players who struggle with it. I considered a movement lock button but didn't want to overcomplicate the controls. Maybe in a future update. If I did, I'd probably replace the triple shot entirely.
This game is so much fun. I love that you can steal the abilities of different enemies. There are also so many enemy types. I had fun just trying to get everyone's ability. The theme and tone of the game is super fun. I love the Retro future, wild west feeling. The lasso... super cool. The art and music are superb. Great job!
Great game! the gameplay was fantastic and had lots of juice, the audio and graphics really worked well together and the mechanic was really creative, on top of that it was all packaged into a robo western!
Super creative mechanic on top of silly rooty-tooty-point-and-shooty!
Fun game! I managed to get three of the discs, but got lost and worn down before I managed to get the last. My first run I didn't find any, although I suspect that was down to me getting lost. Maybe an indicator when the disc is in a room immediately adjacent to prevent accidentally skipping past them?
The music and sound fit in well and really helped set the tone, and the visuals were expressive and clear. Good job!
