Did you work in a team?
One mostly with little help from game designer friend. Really fun experience overall

Was the resolution a challenge?
Really difficult to explain what is happening in the screen, and every action you can perform without using text or tutorials. I used icons for mostly everything but still far from I was hoping.

What did you learn?
I have never worked with isometric maps on Godot before, so that was a first approach to something new. I would really love to dig deeper on isometric games so this was really helpful

I saw you say you will expand on this, I think that's a great idea ^^ this is already fun to play even as a simple showcase of the mechanics. I kinda like not knowing how much health the kaiju has, but Id like to have known how much stronger planes were, seen as they hardly attack compared to tanks. Really fun game, interested to see where you'll take it! :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the kind comment! I liked not showing the kaiju hp too, maybe I can animate the damage in some way. The planes are +5 points stronger than the tanks, but they don’t stay still so they don’t get hitted so often. Thanks a lot for the support :)

It looks nice and plays well.

Good job and thank you for playing my game as well! :)

Developer

Thanks for playing! :D

Congratulations on making this game !

I've played your game during a live that you can watch here :

The live is timestamped so you can go directly to your game.

I hope the feedback and live reactions will be useful. Keep it up !

Really great video :) I’m glad you made it haha, see other people play it’s always insightful. I’ll be expanding this for sure.

Thanks for playing! :D

Your welcome, my pleasure !

First time to play I don't know about detail of building. But after playing I think it fun!.

Developer

Nice to hear you get it :) It’s a little bit difficult at first, I’m working on a tutorial. Thanks for playing!

This was fun. Made good use of the screen space too. Cursor tracking was a little odd, but nothing game breaking.

Developer

Thanks for playing! :) Nice feedback, I’ll be fixing that!

Might be worth adding a few extra campaigns with additional monsters. You have a nice little engine here and I bet you could get a few rounds out of it and keep it interesting.

Submitted(+1)

Really cool aesthetic, and overall pretty fun.

It did feel a little weird/unfair with the monster coming at this weird angle and no way to block it at all.
Some kind of strategy or mechanic would have been nice, but currently you just place a few buildings and tanks and then wait.

Developer

Thanks for playing! Yep, that’s pretty much it! You have to check your houses and be aware of your money, that’s the strategic element :) Thanks again!

The whole game can be played with one hand, good for lazy gaming. I enjoyed the game very much!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed it :)

Holy moly that was intense. I killed the Kaijū with only 4 hp left on my blue building phew

It took me a bit to grok what was going on and how to build other types of buildings, but once I did I had a great time. I think some sort of tutorial would have been helpful, but it wasn't the end of the world I was still able to win on my first try.

Visually it looks nice, I liked the little bouncing tanks they're cute and the plane and tank shots landing on the Kaijū were satisfying.

Oh and I think I said this on twitter but that is one juicy ass laser beam BRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Nice entry!

Developer

ha ha! I really enjoyed your comment, glad you defeat the beast :D Yep! Tutorial is needed, I’ll be working on that, ASAP. Thanks for playing and for feedback! :D

Really cool game, I like the art and music. This really feels like it could be a Gameboy game.

Developer

Thanks for playing! Glad you like all the elements :)

It was not really clear how I could build units but once I figured it out it was a fun experience. I also did not get how the ratio of money gain are for each building, I felt like it was random sometimes, maybe it is? I never managed to beat the kaiju though, it had too much life! I would have appreciated a way to check its health too. Anyway I really enjoyed the game, the style was really neat and the controls even if a bit unclear are really simple and comfortable once learned. Really cool game, good job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! Glad you like it and you managed to figure out how to do everything. Yes, the kaiju has a lot of health, 2000 points to be exactly. Tanks do 10 damage and Planes 15. Keep trying haha.

Expert tip: Repair all the yellow houses on the map once (Click + Right click). Build yellow houses in front of the blue house to avoid some damage. Build a red building and when you have the tank, put two and wait for the plane. Keep building yellow houses to make more money, but don’t abuse them.

Thanks again! :D

a tutorial would make it easier to understand, but after a little while i think infigured out everything. really like the graphics and the music

Developer

Thanks for playing! Glad you like it! A tutorial will come soon :)

The music, audio and graphics come together to build tension really well. I will say that for a strategy game it can be really hard to get an idea of if my strategy is working or not with so little feedback from the game about my decisions. The buildings visually taking damage was great though, and definitely served to ratchet up that tension.

I did beat the game but I don't understand the difference between red and yellow buildings really, nor the difference between tanks and planes - other than cost, obviously. I also never figured out how to repair my buildings.

Really cool concept and well executed. You could definitely build this out even more to a really interesting city builder.

Developer

Thank you very much! I really appreciate this kind of feedback. There was a lot of doubts about all my decisions during the jam lol so there’s some things that never got fully explained.

Yellow buildings are there as shield mostly, but they generate money over time (4k every X seconds). The red buildings allows you to use the tank & the plane, and has more health to use as cover.

Tanks & Planes are similar, but planes do more damage (5 more damage) and they are difficult to hit.

You can only repair Yellow buildings, you click on them and they will show you the cost of reparation and a hammer icon (Sorry for that icon xD), you haver to right click to repair. The repair costs rise every fix.

Thanks again for playing it :D

Creative way to figure out a UI with the minimal amount of text. It took a couple tried, but I figured out how to play it correctly I think. Very fun, cool concept!

Developer

Glad to hear you like it! The ui was really difficult to tackle, also how to communicate everything. Thanks for playing!

It's took me some time to understand how to play, but then it go very smothly) Maybe need to add Kaiju health bar to indicate progress of the game.

Developer

Yep, I wanted to keep the secret about the health, sorry about that. Also thanks for feedback, maybe needs a little tutorial. Thanks for playing! :)

Submitted(+1)

The use of the resolution is really clever! This game is really cool, took me some time to realize how to buy tanks (but was my fault, I thought it generate itself before I buy the red building, so I bought a lot of them hahahaha), but after that I could manage to defeat the Kaiju. The art-style is very great too :D

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! Haha nice to hear you managed to defeat the beast, there are surprisingly a lot of ways to do it. Glad you enjoyed it! :D

Submitted(+1)

The art here is really cool. It was a bold move to try to tackle an isometric style at this resolution! I wish there was a way to know how close I am to defeating the Kaiju. I played 3 times and kept losing, but I have no idea if I was even close as there's no indication of progress. Overall a cool little game, despite lacking slightly in conveyance. Good work.

Developer

Thanks for playing! Yep, I decided not to put a health bar for the kaiju but it seems that maybe needs one after all. Thanks for the feedback.

Submitted(+1)

Very interesting concept and art style. I liked it.

Developer

Thanks for playing!

Reminds me of the Godzilla game for the NES. Good work.

Developer

Thanks a lot! :D
