Did you work in a team?
We were two developers and both made a little of everything. I (bodro) focussed on the shader and art part while qw3rtyuu made the music and most of the sound effects.

Was the resolution a challenge?
Unity doesn't allow to simply scale up the image, so we had to "fake it" by making everything fit the 64x64 grid, which was especially problematic for the UI. Also, 64x64 brought some additionnal "corruption" feel that we couldn't reproduce at the larger resolution.

What did you learn?
We learned more about coding shaders, composing music and making lowrez stuff in Unity.

Pretty neat game, I love the color choices and the use of sound/static to set the mood.

Developer

Thank you Ian :)

i rarely read the manual and was totally surprised when the game became a pac man like sneaky game, brilliantly done congratulations

Developer

Thank you! That is so good to read.

Great atmosphere! I like the shader you used a lot. While I don't have epilespy, I did feel uncomfortable when picking up the power up. The purple visual effect you mentioned earlier in the comments does look more comfortable to me. The sounds were great as well!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the feedback SalsaDodo :)

I will probably upload a special build for people who experience discomfort, or even better, have that option added in-game. It may have to wait though as I need some well deserved rest from computers.

This really has good environment building! The graphics and audio fed into the horror mood really well. The first time i saw an ghost they got me right as I was turning a corner and I got a heat attack! Great game

Thanks Hamezii! Here's a map in case you get lost:

That was cool and very spooky!  I always like seeing 3D games in such a low resolution.  Nice job!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback NPJarcade :)

The ambience of this one is fantastic, really makes pacman a legit horror game.  Curious why pellet collecting didn't make it into this game.  Either way, great job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! About the pellets, its a question we asked ourselves. The reason they're not here is a little because the pacman reference would have been to obvious" and a little because of our first law of game jams: if you have a dilemma, pick whatever answer is the easiest to implement.

Submitted(+1)

I like that law, no time to waste in silly dilemmas.  I think it was the right choice, as I think pellet munching would have actually detracted from the horror feel of the game.  Good luck on the results!

SPOOKY. I love the mood you created! I was nervous for jump scares the entire time (and thankful you didn't put any in it!). Good job! :D

Developer

Thanks for your feedback Aeris, glad you liked it.

That was really fun, I was wondering about the epileptic warning until... LOL nice trip :) loved the atmostphere and lightning effects. Well done!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the kind comment karlipoppins! The "rail" movement is something we had to try but it doesn't please everyone. Glad you liked it :)

interesting entry, nice art.

Developer(+1)

We were clearly aiming for interesting and nice. Thanks kkrac! The gameplay is the experimental bit on this one.

Submitted(+2)

I am so impressed at anyone attempting 3D concepts with only 64 pixels! I really like the color palette going from blues to reds in this one in particular :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks romaselli :) It took a while to get the palette right. I'm glad you liked it!

Hey, I had to duck out when the epilepsy bit started, but until then it was kind of a neat thing. I think visually it has a nice style (until... you know).

Developer(+1)

Thanks for pointing that out! Games are meant to be playable by everyone. Would this visual effect make the game playable to you or is it still too  much? (It is not added to the build yet)

I don’t have epilepsy, I just get migraines. So I wouldn’t want to comment on the appropriateness in terms of that. It looks good though.

At first I though, "Meh." Was almost to click off, but then i collected a collectible and a stupid grin was put upon my face, realizing what game this was parodying!
The walking system is a bit strange, but I took to it quick. Though others, I'm not so sure. I think they will struggle.

Short, sweet. Great graphics! Nice sound. Gameplay is average, no end it seems.

Please put an epilepsy warning somewhere visible!

Developer

🤦‍♂️ Completely forgot about the epilepsy warning, thanks for the reminder. Glad you enjoyed the reference. I guarantee there are two endings (win or lose). The "walking around" part is where things got experimental. I wanted controls to feel like the "original" game without copying it entirely and while trying something new to see what would people think of it. Thanks for sharing your thoughts :)
