The theme of this game jam, will be... NES.

What I mean by this is to make a game that looks and feels like it would have been played on the NES. If you have any questions on how you would do this I would recommend watching Mark Brown's (Game Maker's Tool Kit) video on Shovel Knight, it's very good.
