Team or Solo?
I worked in a team of five. Me designing the game, two artists who I'm friends with doing the art, another friend providing music and Olteanu just being an all round lovely chap.

We created nearly all the assets ourselves.
However the ladder and exit sign are from this guys youtube guide: https://www.youtube.com/c/gamesplusjames/featured
I followed his 2D platformer guide to build the base game, very easy to follow and pickup. So credit to Games Plus James.

How/where did you put the theme in your game ? (in short)
A man from a dull grey office job is transported to a bright colourful fantasy world that begins to be assaulted by dark beings.

Did you (you or your team) do the graphisms yourself?
Yes

Did you (you or your team) do the musics and sounds yourself?

the jump is somewhat frustrating that sometimes does not jump correctly, the graphics 10/10 I love the contrast, and the use of the theme is well implemented.

Developer

Yeah I had some issue with making the double jump function smoothly as sometimes it seems to think you've already double jumped after just one jump. I probably just have to mess around with my groundcheck object on the player, making it bigger and moving it. Thanks for the feedback

Really good execution on the game, made me wanting more of the story and I really liked the character and enemies art work. I found if I made it to the vertical part of the map if it was my first run and the darkness is coming at me from the left it will pause or wait letting me finish talking to the orb for the first time. second I could also let the darkness coming from the top to let it pass and I could just continue without any worry except the spikes. It was fun seeing such a deep story telling, on top of the game play. I saw the credits when I bet the game but wasn’t able to open it up from the menu.

I liked the music and wish it had more tracks. Keep up the great work!!!

Thanks for the feedback. I'm not sure what part of the game you're referring to there as there shouldn't be a wall of darkness on the level with the first orb? If you could elaborate I'll look into this. Good point about the darkness from the top part hadn't accounted for that, what I'll do when I reupload the game is attach the next level trigger to the tail end of the downward darkness.

Thanks for all the kind words. I'm mainly a writer and wanted more time to focus on developing the story to be honest but found the programming and game design took up nearly all of my time in the end. Look out for the updated version at the end of this week.

Not first orb it was near the end, I believe it was red in color.

Ah yes, the wall does stop just before the red orb. The idea is to have that be the finish point and touching the final orb defeats the darkness which is why it then recedes into the ground. But I could probably make use of some particle effects to make that clearer, a good explosion or two :)

I got stuck on the same portion many others did it seems, but overall I was very impressed with the art, the sheer scope of the game, not to mention the signs of someone very experienced with platformers and level design. Great use of the theme as well, overall a very enjoyable experience.

Developer

Thanks for your feedback and playing the game. Yeah it's annoying me that I can't do anything about that bug as the last level, level 5 is my favourite level but I fear a lot of people won't get to see it as a result. It seems to only occur when you jump on the roof which doesn't get you anywhere but it seems everyone wants to jump on the roof xD

Simple game but effective. I think I encountered a bug after taking the blue orb. After the dialogue, I went above the roof and the dialogue started again but pressing E doesn't help.

Developer

Thanks for playing the game. I'll look to get that bug fixed and reupload as soon as ratings are done. It seems to only bug out when you jump on the roof which is something I'd never tested as I hadn't even though to do it but it seems to be the first thing everyone does at that stage
