Great sound and visuals, but the game doesn't really feel good to play. The floatiness paired with tight (if not pixel-perfect) jumps and several blind falls had me replaying the same one or two seconds of level over and over again.
Thanks for playing even though you disliked it.
Of course! I'm glad that other people were happy with your game, it just didn't tickle my own fancy. :)
Beautiful artwork and that jump felt very nice! Love to see another construct game here!
Thanks for playing!
I like the controls and the graphics, it's a fine game. Pretty enjoyable
Thanks for playing!
Not a huge platform player these days so didnt expect to do well but I did better than I thought. The jump would have been better (more forgiving) with some edge detection for the player as the movement is very touchy and I was able to make mistakes very easily. The background music volume is also quite loud, I would prefer to have to turn it up than down.
Level design is really good, if I have any comment there it would be to tone down the difficulty a little in the 2nd and 3rd levels, give us old folks a chance to keep what little hair we have left and feel awesome for almost half a game, then crush our dreams :)
Thanks for playing! I agree that the jump needed some work, most of the other commenters agree with you. Apologies, for the loudness in music, next time I will tone it down.
I enjoyed this game! The text at the start was difficult to read so I ended up skipping out on the story, but the level design was decent (although a bit hard for my tastes!)
Thanks for playing! The story being impossible to read is a major issue and I wish I would've implemented it better : p
Super solid game, tight controls and great idea.
Thanks!
the Execution is so well made it was fun playing your game
Thanks!
I had a lot of fun playing this one! I'm pretty terrible at these types of games so I knew I wasn't going to make it to the end, but I think I made it pretty far (the 2nd checkpoint on the 6th? stage). Either way, controls felt really good. I would really like to be able to play this with a gamepad, just seems more natural with this style of game, of course that's totally optional and just my opinion! Really my only criticisms are super minor: it's difficult to read the text at the beginning and time due to the vignette being applied over top of them, and the "arrow keys to move / z to jump" text actually requires you to know that to see them lol. I spent a while mashing my keyboard until I figured out what the jump button was! Really awesome entry though!
Thanks for playing and the detailed feedback! I agree with everything you said, especially the text issues. The game does support gamepad, so take that for what you will!
I'm going to have to try it again, because I had my xbox controller beside me and tried it when I played and nothing was happening. I might try a different gamepad and see if it detects it.
It definately works with xbox controllers as I tested the game with one. It uses the d-pad rather that the joysticks so if you used the joysticks it wouldn't have worked.
Oh, I didn't even think to try the d-pad! Silly me :X
Nice tight controls.
Thanks for playing!
Awesome game, the sound started a bit loud though and i suck at platformers :P but otherwise great!
Thanks for playing! Sorry for destroying your eardrums :p
thanks no problem :P
Great game. the jump was quite floaty but then it was used pretty well in the level design. The later levels are pretty difficult with little to no room for error. Simpler levels or coyote time would probably fix that
Thanks for playing! Seems like everyone wanted Coyote time! Sorry about that. Personally, I was aiming for little to no error for the difficulty but I understand that it wasn't for everyone.
Little to no room for error is great at times but it's not the best choice of level design for a game jam since most people don't plan to spend too much time on one particular game/level
The gameplay is very fun and the presentation is very nice but the lack of coyote time and variable jump height annoying at some points. Also the display for the controls was shown after i would have needed to know them.
Thanks for playing! Seems like everyone wanted Coyote time! Sorry about that. Also, the controls issue went way over my head. I have now put the controls in the game page.
Very good controls. It feels very nice to play.
I felt a spike in difficulty at level 3 and level 4 I had to stop because I couldn't do it.
adding some coyote time would help with making it more easy.
But some easier level design would also work.
my biggest tip: let other people play-test your game and watch what they do and when they get stuck.
This is good looking and good feeling platformer. So keep on the good work.
Seems like everyone wanted Coyote time! Sorry about that.
Pretty good fun. I think that the text at the start would be better if more concise and immediately viewable (I had to jump up and down to read it). Also with a game like this I really think that you should add some coyote time, as some of the jumps were a little bit too precise for my unskilled fingers... Controller support could be a nice addition too... Great job though!
Controller support exists
I do apologise! I will replay it using the controller :)
